Dell Latitude D620 Tower Replacement
Created: 12/11/10
I was looking for a home computer to replace my tower. I needed it to be a print server, a media server, run a magic jack, use once a year to do taxes on and take up less foot print than my tower. I also wanted to stay with Windows XP for now. The Dell latitude has achieved all of these goals. With the USB 2.0 ports, the 2gig of memory and the Intel 2.16Ghz Dual core processor I can talk on the majic jack phone and print or watch media with no interuption. It was very convenient to have 4 USB ports rather than 2. They are used as follows: 1.wireless mouse, 2.Local/Network printer, 3.External 500gig network shared media drive, and 4. Magic Jack. When doing taxes I can use the DVD bay with a hard drive adapter and drive and remove it for security in between updates. And being a laptop it not only had a smaller footprint but was actually cheaper to replace my tower. Although I purchased this computer used, I am very happy with the outcome.

Dell D620 ( refurbished )
Created: 03/07/11
I have been wanting a laptop for about a year to be able to install a Linux based O/S (Ubuntu). I did not want to "experiment" with a NEW Computer. This deal from eBay was perfect !. Nearly new, fully functioning w/Windows Vista, 80 Gb H/D. Was better shape than I expected from Dell Fin. Serv. I was able to purchase it without breaking the bank & have some "slack" in case I have to replace the battery (not warranted). 14" size is perfect laptop, weight a little heavy due to being metal case. System is running so good I have not installed the Ubuntu O/S (will partition the H/D, keep Vista on half). Free shipping a + !.

"Best of Both"

This laptop, which has a 14" display and a Pentium Cor 2 processor, seems to be the "best of both worlds". It has the speed of a larger more expensive laptop and yet it is only 5 pounds and the 14" screen is as much as anyone could want.
As opposed to a 10 or 12" screen, this laptop shows everything in full and is clear and easy to read text and see graphics. The WIFI hooks up almost automatically and the range is further than I expected. All functions are easy to navigate and in all I would put this laptop far above any smaller notebook style laptop. The size is only slightly larger but the advantages are paramont!
Don't be afraid to choose this well built Dell Product.

Solid buy

Dell usually makes good stuff. the Latitude D620 is one of the good stuff. It is a sturdy feeling unit, has a biometric (fingerprint reading) keypad (mine does), and two ways you can use the mouse on the keypad: the eraser way and the touchpad way with two sets of buttons on the keyboard for mouse clicks.
It has a dual processor T2300 1.66 Ghz, that works okay. Its speakers are average, so you might want headphones or external speakers. It has the old style Cardbus port, 4 USB ports, a Com Port (talk about old style!), VGA output, and easy to access harddrive, DVD rom drive, etc.
It is thinner than most laptops made at that time... prob ably about 1 1/2 inches thick.
Running facebook, internet is great. For word processing, it is fine also.
In all, I really like it! A sound deal for the money (under $150 on ebay.)

Dell Latitude D620

The Dell Latitude D620 has a very solid build, very good battery life, spill proof keyboard, fast wi-fi connection, excellent performance and is lighter than most 14.1" widescreens. I really like this laptop.
