A strong, well designed workhorse
Created: 11/18/09
While not the best laptop available, the 1500 series Inspirons from Dell are an excellent choice if you're looking for a work machine. They have all the necessary features for day to day use, they're lightweight and not cumbersome, and make excellent travel laptops as well. They have decent power (a normal dual core at approx. 2Ghz, 4GB of ram, and a decent video card/onboard video), and last for almost the longest time (in the laptop industry) on a single charged battery. The norm is 4 hours, sometimes even more. They have a wide array of designs and colors for the case, and they're cheaply available. If you didn't go for HP's version which has slightly nicer aesthetics, this is definitely the laptop for you.
I've had the pleasure of owning 3 of these, and I intent to buy more in the future.
Or, if you want the absolute best at a decent price, choose from Dell's XPS line. The 1530 is an EXCELLENT laptop.

Great Laptop

This laptop is great. It has a sleek design, and its light, not heavy like my last laptop. I love the color, and the wi-fi is good as well. I've always been a sucker for Dell products. All of my desktops and laptops have been Dell.

The only thing I have a problem with is this mouse pad. It seems to find my thumb whenever I am typing, and ... the next words end up in some other part of the screen.
The screen is big, the keyboard seems sooo nice to type on. I am getting used to the new alternate button locations, (ie home, end) I had a Dell D600.
So far I like it. even with its quirks.

Dell Inspiron 1525

I bought this because it was new and I liked the 4 usb ports(two on left and two on the right). Nice size screen and loved the fact that it was loaded with Windows XP(which I prefer to use). Unit is fast and seems to be well built with nice keypad feel. I didn't like the power supply for the wierd connect and the shortness of the plugin. The DVD drive located on the right side has the open button which is hard to locate with your hand. Overall a very good unit.

Pass on any Dell Inspiron!
| No, I would not recommend this product.

You better buy an extra one for parts because they are horrible laptops. I bought 2 brand new 1525 laptops and the hinges/lid broke on one and fixed under warranty, and the hinges/lid broke on the other one in 13 months, one month out of warranty! It cost me a fortune to get the hinges/lid fixed. Both batteries were bad after just one year and I replaced both of them too. Then, the hard drive went out, more money out of pocket! Oh, and I forgot to mention I just bought 2 power supplies because they went bad after one year too. On Sunday, the screen is blurry on one and I junked it! I spent a total of $1,560 and I made one good one out of the parts of two! Look on EBAY, everyone is selling their old 1525 for parts!
