The 2300MP has been a very good projector for us. The lumens (brightness) and picture quality for the price is a very good value. Although this model is not sold new anymore, anyone who can find this good used projector for a fair price will enjoy the experience. We had paid $1,200.00 new for ours from Dell. Although not fully digital, the picture quality is excellent when used with a 1024x768 output from an average dvd player or home theater setup. Our original broke down after many years of heavy use, and we bought a replacement unit through e-bay. The new unit has now been sold and is in use outdoors at a campground where the campers just love the very large bright and clear display. Many input options make this a very versatile unit. Finding a good one with low to moderate use should provide years of quality service.
I've used many projectors before in my classroom and this Dell 2300MP is simply the best! It is very bright and the image is really clear. Any PowerPoint presentation up to YouTube and even movies looks good with this projector.
The quality/price ratio is really good.
My use for the Dell 2300MP is as an outdoor movie projector . . . and it excells at this!!! I've never owned OR used a video projector before and had only read a few reviews of various projectors. I got other tips from outdoor movie websites and blogs, so I had a general idea of what features were recommended. Here are the best features of this projector for outdoor use:
1) Bright image. 2300 lumens is enough to overpower just about any ambient light, including the full moon!
2) Image quality, format and size. It gives sharp views with good contrast. Our screen size allows 10' images (diagonally) with the projector about 20' away. You can view in 4:3 or 16:9. Plenty of space for lots of viewers. I like to sit about 15' from the screen.
3) Ease of use. I briefly checked a couple of details from an online manual and then plugged everything in. The small size of the projector makes it easy to place/set up. And it's very quiet!
4) Adaptability. Lots of different inputs, we use the composites. My guests have usually used "Wow!" to describe the image. It's truly impressive.
5) Price/value. For around $200 (including remote) the Dell 2300MP is an incredible deal!
I haven't covered much of anything technical here. you can find that stuff online. I've combined the projector with a used Da-Lite roll-up screen ($75), existing DVD player, Aiwa stereo boombox ($9), and some minor cabling for a great outdoor theater for under $300. This week I added two volume adjustable headphone sets ($66) so that we can watch without neighbors complaining about any noise!
I highly recommend the Dell 2300MP projector specifically for outdoor use!
Sharp picture. Shipped as described. Easy operation. Dell comes through again. Compact size and matching carrying case. Occassional use and do not have a lot of money tied up in it.
Great projector for the money. This projector will provide many years of enjoyable movie watching while giving us the theatre experience. If you're looking for an inexpensive projector that delivers with a bright crisp picture, this is it!
