The quality of bass this rascal puts out has enhanced my home theater tremendously. The quantity of bass it is capable of has done likewise. For music, no matter what the source is, each note is articulate, no guesswork. There is pitch definition that others subs only hint at. I listen to a wide variety of music and I appreciate good, solid bass. I'm hearing depth and clarity on pieces I've listened to many times before, often with the realization of "well that's new", or, that passage has never sounded that good". Bass extension is not an issue, my 15'x20' music/home theater room can be energized to a level that is phenominal.
For home theater, throw whatever you want at it, then get out of the way! My Blu-ray collection is rapidly growing, in no small part due to what this sub can do. Compared to the other subs I've used, and that includes Velodynes, Polk Audio, QSC (an 18" beast), there IS A DIFFERENCE with my Supercube. The bottom line is here's a sub that takes up very little space, is beautiful with its piano gloss top, has prodigious output, and sounds incredible. A better value I doubt you'll find!
I'm a Def Tech fan from way back... first owning the original BP10 and evolving to the BP7002 with BPX surrounds which I currently own. I've always dreamed of having a matching SC1, but already being the owner of a nice Paradigm sub, I didn't think it would be a significant upgrade.
The Supercube I has had the most impact (literally and viscerally) on my HT than any other component besides my display. Really an impressive piece that, although originally intended to replace my Paradigm, actually compliments that sub to where they both have a home in my system.
I got a great deal on eBay, and if the price is right for you, you can't go wrong with the Supercube I or any other Def Tech speaker in my experience.
It's a great sub at its price point (I own 2 of them), but don't believe the published specs. There is no way this thing will get to 200Hz, in reality it starts to roll off significantly at 120Hz and completely falls off the chart by 160Hz. But at the other end, sure it goes good to below 20Hz which makes it a great choice for home theater applications. For critical listening music, don't rely on it if you have monitor size main speakers that need assistance below 200Hz because the 120-200Hz will be lacking.
I got this sub to complete my Definitive Technology speaker system. I paired it with StudioMonitor450 fronts, ProCenter 2000, and BP1.2x surrounds. It sounds great in the corner of my room and the volume adjust allows me to tailor the output for various effects. It responds great and sounds perfect with a variety of sources including TV, Blu-Ray, and my Xbox360. Great range and perfect reproduction of the lows I was looking for.
I bought the supercube 1 because I have a Klipsch 350 watt and a polk 250 watt and I was unsatisfied. This sub hits better and lower than both conbined. The only thing I have a problem with is, it doesn't go quite high enough on the hertz range. I hooked the polk with it and am very happy. Nice sub.
