Product Information
Hostile aliens and claustrophobia rule the day in Dead Space, a survival horror game in the vein of the classic film Alien. Dead Space takes place in the distant future when Earth's lust for raw materials has extended deep into the galaxy, and giant ships roam the cosmos mining planets for resources. Gamers climb into the spacesuit of systems engineer Isaac Clarke, sent with a team of investigators to the massive USG Ishimura to determine why communications have gone dead. Once aboard, Clarke discovers that the more than 1,000 crewmembers, including his love interest Nicole, all seem to be missing, dead, or transformed into hideous alien mutants. To make matters worse, Clarke's transport ship is destroyed, his fellow investigators are slaughtered, and he is forced to scramble through the Ishimura's labyrinthine corridors weaponless and alone.

The game's action takes place from a third-person perspective, and the narrative is revealed in classic survival horror fashion through messages scrawled in blood, the dying utterances of mortally wounded crewmembers, and any discarded logs or journals players may stumble upon. Gamers can loot corpses for credits which can then be used in the ship's many automated vending machines to purchase weapons, upgrade Clarke's space suit, and gain access to restricted areas. Much of the ship's interior has been damaged and thus lacks oxygen or gravity, creating a number of environmental puzzles, and making choices regarding upgrades exceedingly important -- powerful weapons offer little solace to a player devoid of oxygen. However, choosing the correct weaponry is also crucial, because the creatures that dwell within the Ishimura are terrifyingly powerful, and unlike most games, the action in Dead Space doesn't pause while players check their journal, change weapons, or reload.

Dead Space bring a new thrill to Survival Horror

    Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10
The graphics are make you look twice – you feel as if you are on the ship with Isaac, and even in deep space. Though the levels look similar, you will see the immediate beauty of this game. It is a difficult thing to be consistent, yet differentiate enough to create an entire ship.

    Sound: Amazing – 9.5/10
The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game. Surround sound is a must so you can hear the uttering, chanting, and footsteps of the habitants of this game. A lot of time, and thought, went into putting in effective music, parts with no music, and the fell of being utterly alone. The best, yet simplistic feeling is when you go into space for the first time, and all you hear is your own breath and heartbeat.

    Gameplay: Spectacular – 9/10
Smooth animations, large – but intuitive levels, smart enemies and A.I., different possibilities for battles and puzzles – without giving anything away, this game is different, and in a good way. Fans of Bioshock and Resident Evil 4 will feel at home with this. The way you kill enemies is really unique, and fun.

    Replay Value – Good 7/10
Even without multiplayer, this game has replay value with the Impossible Difficulty, and they mean that. The only issues I have with the replay is that you will know where the “jump out points” are and will be expecting what will happen.

    Overall – Perfect 9/10
I am a fan of Survival Horror and the entire genre. When I play this game, I have to say that this isn’t so much survival horror on the Easy to Hard difficulty settings, being that there is plenty of ammo, stores, and save points, but survival Action. Think of this as a sci-fi movie, and that it is more like Aliens as opposed to Alien. The details and ideas that went in this game prove that risks are still being taken in game development, and they pay off.

Though I say this is a “Survival Action” game, it is so much more. It feels as if it is a “best of” game – meaning that they take the best parts of many games such as Bioshock, Resident Evil 4, Prey, and other games that may fall into such a category. The use of in game story telling, and use of a item menu that is in game and in action, gives a whole new approach to playing the game.

The game is not perfect, but close to. The map is annoying to use, and the use of where to go makes the game a bit easier, but for how the story is set up, it works.

It is difficult for a company to release a new IP these days, and have it be successful, and I feel that Dead Space does just that. Enjoy playing this with the lights off.

It creates its own genre. It has elements taken from genres such as RPG, puzzlers, action-adventures, but is not pigeonholed into this experience. Spending time with this game, it is apparent that EA games wanted to create a cinematic and different experience in a game – and make the horror genre prevalent again.

Dead Space (Xbox 360) One Minute Review!

Dead Space, Electronic Arts' phenomenal survival horror video game, is the type of adventure we happily get lost within. As engineer Isaac Clarke, you explore a mining vessel overrun by horrible aliens that mutate their hosts into twisted and disgusting beasts.

In the process of sawing off limbs, exploring the ship in zero G and solving simple puzzles, you unravel the mystery of what consumed the crew of the USG Ishimura. Gorgeous and horrifying visuals, combined with spine-tingling audio, immerse you in an interstellar nightmare of blood and bone.

While it leaves a lot of unanswered questions, an obvious ploy to get you to read the enjoyable comics and watch the animated film, Dead Space is still a terrifying game, whether you're bathed in darkness or playing in sunlight.

The short & sweet of it.

I waited..and waited...to buy this game. All i am going to say is this....if you dream hard Sci-Fi.... live for hard Sci-Fi.....crave excellent story telling with bold graphics and in your face blood and gore....stop what your doing and purchase this game. Micro manage your ammo, your health while achieving the impossible?...yes, yes and yes!!. Notice the detail. Little details, elevator lights on the panel in tune with the clicking of each passing floor, ship components like engineering, enviromental, helm, sick bay, mining levels, hydroponics, all is filled with a obscene amount of realism. Yes, if you like your Sci-Fi hard, go for it. Start out on medium diffuculty first or the hard level if you dare, crank up the 7.1 or 5.1 surround sound and prepare to have the living crap scared out of you, i did!!...i was so nervous at times i wanted to shut the console off!, but i persevered and staved off the horrors that were biting at my running a$$ as i ran for cover!!, but you see...there aint no cover...just you....and the death....that is waiting to take you down.
I rated this game as excellent, everything i love about Sci-Fi horror and Sci-Fi in general is here. Play the game like you would read a great book, immerese yourself into the character you play, become him, and when you do that, man what a ride, a ride you aint gonna want to stop.

3rd Person doesnt mean you see everything...

What do you get when you combine:
    Resident Evil 4
    Alien
    Event Horizon
    The Black Hole
    Clive Barkers Tortured souls
and bits from other sci-fi horror movies.

Well, 'm sure I don't need to answer since this IS for the answer.

You play as Isaac Clarke. An Engineer whos come with a repair crew to the USG Ishimura, the Largest Planet Cracker in her class, to find his girl friend who sent him a bizzarre and unclear message.. They've a distress beacon floating around but they cant answer what's wrong. They go on board, and immediately get attacked by "Necromorphs" and it's up to you to not only find Nicole, but survive.

The gameplay is solid, and no matter how experienced you are with horror games, if you've never seen a playthrough, you're going to jump and maybe even yelp with some surprises. Because everything is in real time. And in a very creative way. Your menus and transmissions are holographic projections. No matter where you are, you're open to attack. There's ALOT of enemies, and there's alot of brutal stuff. Gore is not lacking in this, thats for sure. To effectivly eliminate the Necromorphs you fight, you have to dismember them. But they have their way of doing it unto you! So you have to be aware and quick. Nothing like taking a breather and suddenly the one behind you in the vent turns you around and rips your neck out. Or one of the big brutes bites your head off and rips your corpse in half. Or my favorite, the tentical mass with a zombified looking head that pops your head off like a champagne cork and replaces it with itself!

So what if it has very little originality? I enjoyed it, the ending was REALLY good, and I'm looking forward to the Sequal.

A SciFi Horror Masterpiece redefining the shooter genre

Deadspace is among the scariest sci-fi horror game I have ever played. During gameplay, it is apparent that the game has influences from famous titles like Resident Evil 4, DOOM, Alien, etc. making it a very interesting game. But unlike other games, Deadspace is unique in the way that it does not have a HUD on screen, instead, the health meter, stasis meter, air meter, and RIG holograms appear all around his suit, making the game much more unique and better. The best thing about this game however, is its sick graphics and realistic enviornments. This game is so realistic, the intensity of the blood and glore in this game is simply unheard of in the history of sci-fi horror.

This game is highly reommended to any die hard fan of the sci-fi horror and shooter genre.
