| In Dante's Inferno, players assume the role of Dante as he travels on an epic descent through Dante Alighieri's nine circles of Hell - limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Players assume the role of Dante, who descends into Hell after returning home to find his beloved Beatrice murdered, with Lucifer seducing her soul into the underworld. His mission is to save Beatrice, but he soon realizes he is also in Hell to face his own demons and ultimately to redeem himself. To take down the demons of Hell, Dante is outfitted with two primary weapons: the Scythe he takes from Death and the Holy Cross given to him by Beatrice, which has spiritual powers that will help Dante collect souls and spells from the creatures he defeats on his journey. The game also features a deep upgrade system so gamers can customize their abilities to their specific gameplay style. Each circle showcases its own distinct look, with demons, monsters, damned and geography that are crafted straight from the poem's vivid descriptions. | |

The game looked amazing. Dante's divine comedy translated into video game and brutal and gory too. Clips were amazing and idea even more so. Unfortunately the game does not live up to the hype. Graphics are only so so and I ma not sure what happened to cutting edge graphics seen in trailers (not talking about CGI here). Most characters look the same and enemies are few and far between. Seriously there is maybe liek 5 enemies and then different variations of each with same finish moves and different fighting tactics.... Also thinking that this is going to be straight up hack n slash I was expecting a lot of fight and gore, but again, I was disappointed. Between every fight there is a breather and simply annoying platform leveles when transitting from one circle to another. It gets boring really fast and you will be most likely dying a lot trying to rush through those part. Bosses are mostly big and pretty sweet. Fighting them adds strategic thinking ad no boss is the same so it's a plus since there is a lot of them. I found vocie acting and music superb and really making you feel the pain and torment that one would endure both in hell and after losing the ones they love (Beatrice). Also I found the idea of unlocking combos and magic by earning souls, as well as fact that there is many different artifacts, most of which you can level up, that will aid you on your journey through hell, a really nice bonus. To sum it up this game is way below it's superiors (God of War, Darksider, Bayonetta, but it does have couple of fresh ideas and totally new setting which makes you feel uneasy at best most of the time. Game is worth picking up at half the price or less, but I would never recommend it for the full price. Solid fun yet very unbalanced and lacking. Wish Visceral took their time to polish this up like they did with Dead Space.
This game was very good. If you ever played god of war then you would love this game. Myself being an XBOX360 owner now was looking for a game to substitute for having no god of war and this game did the trick hands down. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is phenomenal, and the story is very well put together.
The only real complaint I have about it is that it ended to quick. As you go through the game you earn souls and with those souls you buy new moves and magic. As you level up new things become available for you to buy based on your level.(you can only go up to level 7 in holy and unholy.) These moves and magic that you buy are quite expensive especially as you go higher in the levels. By the time I had beat the game I had only had time to purchase things up to level 4 leaving soooo many moves and magic unpurchased and unused. I was very dissapointed by this. I didn't miss anything along the way as I progressed through the game like normal.
Other than the minor complaint about it ending to fast I have no other complaints with it. This is an excellent game esp. for god of war lovers and it will keep you busy for a little while. My advice though, don't pay over $25 for this one or your money will feel like it hasn't cleared your checking account before you have beat it.
This is a really good game that has the potential to be great with a 2nd installment. Most people compare it to God of War because of the similar type of gameplay but I try not to. It's nice to have more games in that type of genre.
This game is beautiful...wonderful graphics, sound and very freaky as you play through the different stages of hell. The game can be a little frustrating at times due to the level design but its nothing that ruined the game experience for me. I just find it to be challenging. The average gamer should be fine getting thru the game.
I don't recommend you buy this for younger children or play it around your kids for that matter as it is very adult oriented. Overall, I enjoyed the game and I highly recommend if you like these type of dark gory games, especially at the bargain price you can find this on eBay :)
Its a great game, fast action. The M rating is right on on this one folks with kids. Full frontal nudity...
i played the game for about three hours before deciding to just give it up, if you enjoy doing impossible tidious tasks, then this game is just for you. the gameplay sucks, you have no real world roam around, you go where the game wants you to go, so much for exploring the depths of hell. if you like swinging around from place to place well you will be doing alot of that! you try to swing from rope to rope, all just to fall short of reaching the next rope, you do this about a million times til you get it just right, i hate games like that! i gave up when i reached the part where you must cover up 1 of four lava holes that are spitting out fire straight up in the air, you somehow have to swing over them, this is impossibe, or so it seems! maybe not for some, but i thought this was a fighting game, not lets do impossibe tasks that annoy you every five seconds to get around. i will never play this game again, it was a waste of my money. hopefully dragon age origins will redeem my faith in medevil roll playing games. all i can say is this game really takes you to hell! but not in a good way. it can go to hell far as i am concerned!
