I bought this movie for Billy Bob Thornton's track record of writing interesting and insightful movies, as well as its great cast. I made it through thirty minutes or less and turned it off. Although I can appreciate and occasionally love the "inde" type quirky movie, this was very boring and ordinary. Lots of redundant arguing between Billy Bob's character and the character's wife, Laura Dern. It's like taking a peek into an ordinary but over-acted trashy southern couple's life. If I wanted to see that, I'd move back home to Tennessee to my tiny hometown. The dialogue in "Daddy and Them" wasn't enough to keep my attention and I saw no noteworthy comedic efforts. Sadly, I didn't see the movie getting any better and consider the time I did watch it as rather suffering. This was an extreme disappointment.
I rated it as excellent, because I am a fan of both Billy Bob and Laura Dern. Kinda real quirky movie with southern tones, ( go figure ) but cool acting veterans Andy Griffith and Jamie Lee Curtis, Ben Affleck make this a very enjoyable goofy story, and in the end it all makes sense. Thumbs Up!!!
I loved this movie...I thought It was a hysterical satire of the southern red neck family...and I'm from Alabama so I should know!!!! great cast! I really thought the title should have been "Daddy an 'em" I know this family several times over!!!! It was very entertaining. You will either LOVE it or hate it..with the emphasis being on Love it..if you can see the humor in it!!
This movie is so hilarious. I was never a big fan of Billy Bob Thornton but after Sling Blade I had to watch some more of his original work and I wasn't disappointed. This movie was so retarded but so funny with an all star cast. I loved the redneck humor especially. Great choice.
Grab this movie, a couple of brews, a hoagie, a big bucket of popcorn, and get ready for ONE FUNNY TRIP!!! Ole Billy Bob is hilarious, as well as the other actors/actresses in this film!!! Please know that this film is not for the "kiddos", as the language is Adult Only.
We saw this movie last year while on vacation at a resort, and had all kinds of problems finding it at local movie rental stores upon return. We finally found it on Ebay (several months ago) to purchase and have been laughing ever since.
This is a "Must Watch Movie" for people with a warped sense of humor!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as we have!!!
