The D-Link DIR-655 offers decent throughput performance and stable wireless signal. The router has an intuitive and responsive Web interface, support for Gigabit Ethernet and guest networking, and an extensive set of networking features.
The DIR-655 doesn't have dual-band support. Its SharePort USB port can work with only one computer at a time.
With the latest firmware update, the D-Link DIR-655 is arguably one of the best among single-band Wireless-N routers on the market.

Great router and a good price if you get a used one. Works really well and is super fast. Not the best range but it could also be my house, I never have good luck with routers. Print server looks great but I am still trying to figure out how to make it work... My computer errors out every time I try to print something.
I was looking to upgrade my internet connection after getting a WII for my birthday. I needed a router/wireless device so I would not need a long cable to the WII. This D-Link product is great. I found it easy to set up and use. The directions were easy to folllow. The box is small so it does not take up much room on the corner of my desk behind a picture. I would definitely purchase another D-Link product since the quality appears to be excellent. My IPod also connects from anywhere in the house, and in the yard as well.
I purchased this router based on online reviews. I had previously owned a netgear router that was very difficult in my opinion to setup securely. The D link router is perfect for larger homes with multiple rooms as it has 3 sending and recieving antennas! No loss of connections and it is very very fast. Setup was a breeze and offers insane security features. If you live in an Apartment it's a must have because so many people can feed off of your hard earned dollars and steal your internet...plus it's very secure. With the included setup disc I was up and running in about 5 minutes with WEP/WAP security. I'm not a computer wiz and don't have much experience setting up networks, but this is truly easy. The best router for the money bye far.
I've owned one of these routers since 2006 & have purchased 3 more for friends since then. Main reason for selecting this router is GIGABIT. I transfer GIGS of data every day from one computer to another with this Gigabit router. I transfer large 14GB HDTV Recordings from one computer to the other FASTER than I can internally from one HDD to the other. I have seen the MAX speed of 125MB/s (Max GIGABIT i.e. 1000Mb/s) when transfering from a SSD on one computer and either an SSD or really fast 3.5" drive on the other computer. (bottle neck actually being the write speed of the HDD)
However, I don't even need to transfer HD recordings as it works so smooth & flawlessly over gigabit network, streaming an HDTV recording from another computer in another room 100 feet away via Media Center out to our HDTV in the living room is so smooth I completely forget the file is on the other computer in the back room.
The router has been turned on running non stop since 2006, it's NEVER been turned off, it has worked flawlessly now 7/24 around the clock for 6 years, that's over 50 thousand hours contiuous & it's still going fine as of April 16 2012.
After doing my research I finally settled on the D-link Xtreme N DIR-655 router. It works wonderful! Signal is perfect, powers every wireless device in my home w/o any lag. Was easy to install & set up. I highly recommend this router.
