Crazy Taxi (PlayStation 2)

The game is very simple. As one of four taxi drivers, you must drive around and pick up fares. Each of your fares will present you with a destination--be it a Tower Records, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Fila store, or Levi's shop--and you'll have to get there as fast as you possibly can. Get there in a real hurry, and you'll get a time bonus. Take too long, and your fares will simply jump out of your cab, robbing you of any points they would have given you for getting them to the destination, as well as any points you might have picked up while they were in the car. In addition to racking up points by merely driving people from area A to location B, you can also earn bonuses for performing combos. These combos are simple things, like weaving between cars without scratching up your car, jumping a long distance, or sliding around corners. When playing the game with the arcade rules, you must constantly pick up fares to keep your time from running out. There are also options that simply let you play for three, five, or 10 minutes, giving you a slightly more relaxed game.

I first played this game when it was originally released on the Sega Dreamcast back in 99 or 2000. I loved it then and wanted it, but couldn't afford the system. Recently got a PS2 and borrowed it from a friend and now have my own copy. Bad ass punk rock from Epitaph Records (Bad Religion and Offspring) are featured on this game, and all you do is drive like a psychopath to get your fares to their location as fast as possible, by any means possible! High intensity quick paced action. You get a higher tip for avoiding hitting the other cars and obstacles while weaving through traffic, jumping, driving over rooftops, through city parks and even under water! Lots of fun, great music, and a game you can play with your family since there is no bad language or blood all over the place. So what are you waiting for? BUY IT ALREADY!!! You won't regret it, and if you do...well....too bad. :)

this is propably one of the most copied games right behind GTA. the idea is so simple yet so darn addictive! you basically run around the entire city(which is huge.)and you have a limited amount of time. you either get a fast rating(green) ok rating(yellow) and slow rating(red, and if its red they will jump out of the car because you are too slow.
this game truly is orginal and was ported over to the ps2 xbox and arcade because it was such a huige hit. this was dreamcasts 1st killer app. and now you can pick it up for about $3 on ebay. so i highly suggest you go buy it now you deff. wont regret it!

Not as good as Dreamcast version, but still fun

Review For: Crazy Taxi (Nintendo GameCube, 2001)
I've enjoyed this game for going on 10 years and decided to consolidate it onto my Wii with the Gamecube version. It's still fun and the gameplay is still there. The colors don't seem as vibrant, but it's not a large difference. The big difference is in the voices used for the cab customers. There's not nearly as much variation as with the Dreamcast and arcade versions. Every other person sounds the same; says the same things over and over. This gets pretty annoying, pretty quick.
I'll be keeping my Sega Dreamcast.

I tried to give this game a four, but I just can't! If you like a crazy car speed then you found the right game. The games graphics are not so bad, the game is okay is realism and the concept of the game is pretty chill. Though the game is good, it has a few loop holes. The game could have been better graphically but because of it's age we'll let that slip through.
The game get's boring after one hour of playing. All you do is play arcade mode and also do like 10 short missions. When you're done the missions, all you need to do is keep beating your time. Some missions are so hard, I don't understand how it is possible to win!
Anyways in general, I give this game a three on five. It's just not worth more than ten dollars. If you guys would like to buy a sick realistic racing game, I suggest you buy Toca 3. I would purchase this game for over fifty dollars!
