4/5 stars, not an instant classic, but funny

Excellent movie for good ole laughs or a movie to pass time by. I would recommend this movie for the comedy goer. Definitely funnier than current movies in theaters like "cop out", but not funnier than 40 year old virgin. Vince vaughn does not disappoint.

4/5 stars.

Couple Building Adventure made comedy

Review For: Couples Retreat (Blu-ray Disc, 2010, Includes Digital Copy)

Vince Vaughn stars in this comedy about four couples who head off to Eden, a resort where couple go to get in touch with their feelings for each other. Only problem is only one of the couples feel they need the therapy offered.

The movie is full of typical Vaughn type humor, snappy answers, and general all around fun.

the Cast includes: Faizon Love, Jason Bateman, Jean Reno, Jon Favreau, Kali Hawk, Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis, Malin Akerman, Vince Vaughn

Great movie if you enjoy Vaughn's type of humor. Get this one.

Couples Retreat (DVD, 2010)

Jason (Jason Bateman) and Cynthia (Kristen Bell) are on the brink of separating. She hears her biological clock ticking, but their visits to a fertility clinic have been futile due to a low sperm count caused by testicular cancer. Before throwing in the towel, they agree to go for marriage counseling at Eden, an idyllic retreat on Bora Bora billing itself on the internet as the ultimate playground for adults. Besides couples’ therapy, the Polynesian getaway also offers jet skiing, snorkeling, windsurfing, drinking, dancing and all the rest of the amenities one would expect to enjoy at a tropical resort.

However, when Jason notices on its website that the group-rate is half the price, he decides to try to talk his buddies into coming along for an impromptu vacation, even though their relationships aren’t in crisis. After being assured that they won’t have to do any therapy sessions at the spa, three other couples book the trip, fully expecting to unwind during a relaxing week of partying and fun in the sun. Only upon their arrival, do they learn that the island is divided in half, with Eden East catering to the sort of hedonistic delights they were anticipating while Eden West has a mandatory daily regimen with activities designed with troubled relationships in mind.

Consequently, they all end up under the thumb of Monsieur Marcel (Jean Reno), a “Couples Whisperer” who claims he can cure any ailing marriage. Unfortunately, instead of bringing these folks closer together, his probing tends to create problems where there were none before. Couples Retreat is a breezy sitcom that takes a lighthearted look at the state of male-female relating. To its credit, this refreshingly-tame chucklefest figured out how to elicit lots of laughs without having to resort to the sort of meanspirited insults which have become the staple of the battle-of-the-sexes genre.

couples retreat

much better than i expected. lately vince vaugn has been living off of old school, but this puts him back on the map. this us one of the funniest movies ive seen in a long time. it has a great cast a fun enjoyale story and beautiful scenery. the only problem i had with this movie is that it is very predictable. basically kristen bell and jason bateman sucker their friends, 3 other couples, to go on paradise vaction for themselves while bell and bateman seek couples therapy to be able to get the group rate. when they arrive everything is promised and then some. the only problem is that all of the couples are forced into therapy and everything transpires from there. i give 3 of 4 stars.

Couples Retreat Blu-Ray

Review For: Couples Retreat (Blu-ray Disc, 2010, Includes Digital Copy)

If you are a fan of great blu ray picture quality, give this movie an extra star. It looks and sounds amazing. If you enjoy Vince Vaughn movies, then this is right up your alley. Great cast, but the movie isn't really that funny. The trailers show most of the best scenes (kid urinating in display toilet at store, shark near Vaughn, etc....). I don't think the characters were all that well developed. The cast did well with the limited material they had to work with. I had no personal concern for any of characters. The movie is trying to convey a message about relationships, but it really missed the mark. Vaughn is supposed to be the most level headed and stable of all of the guys....and I think that's a stretch for him. His other 3 buddies are so different from him, you wonder why any of them are friends. This is a cute date movie. For a PG-13 they press the envelope. I say watch it for the beautiful tropical locations, which look fantastic in high def. Don't take the movie too seriously as it lacks some common sense and toward the end, things are resolved too quickly and conveniently.
