The ContourHD records high-definition video at 720p. Laser sights and a rotating lens help to aim the camera while mounted without the need for a viewfinder. Simple, one-handed operation and the included 2GB microSD card and rechargeable battery make this one of the most easy-to-use helmet cams we've tested.
The unit is not waterproof or submersible. Low-light performance is poor.
While not as rugged as its competition, the ContourHD features video quality and user-friendliness that is far better than any other helmet cam that we've tested.

This camera is a lot of fun and takes excellent quality video. It is simple to use and has many settings. I mount it to my helmet with the goggle strap mount and video my son on his dirt bike while I ride my ATV. The camera is so light you cannot feel it at all.
The downside to this camera is that it has no view finder and the 2 red lights that shine out the front are impossible to see in the daylight so you have to guess where to aim it. A little to low and all you record is fast moving dirt. A little too high and it's all tree tops and clouds. Since there's no viewfinder, you don't know whether or not your video is any good until you get home and download it on your computer. After my first full day of videoing my son we were very disappointed to get home and discover I had several hours of mostly ground and a little of his back tire. Even a tiny viewfinder would have allowed me to record a little then play back my recording and make adjustments if necessary.
Another downside is most of the camera adjustments can only be made from your computer which is fine except theres no way to know what these adjustments look like until you go out and video and then download it back to your computer.
The bottom line...this camera takes great video but you need to be patient and will likely require plenty of experimentation before you actually get get the footage you are hoping for.
I guess that means my son and I will have to ride more. I'm sure my wife will understand.
Very cool action camera. Design and functionality is much better than other.
Easy accesible controls (record switch)
Good image quality
Rotating lens & aiming lasers
Good mounting options included
Power button a little bit hard to push in gloves
1080p is a little bit sticky (but not worse than opthers)
No waterproof case included
GPS lock isn's so fast asn accurate
As for me there is no better cam on the market (at least for such price).
The main reason for me to buy this camera was a run down a famous White Valley in Chamonix.
Now, having experienced with it I will take it everywhere I go.
What I do like:
Little size - no additional air resistance when riding.
Low weight - I didn't feel it at all. The helmet didn't move on my head.
Easy in use.
GPS data to have speed, trajectory, heights, etc.
Many recording modes, including pictures, HD video.
Good movie quality even at the lowest resolution.
What I do not like:
Camera is not fixed tightly. There is a little gap. When riding the camera is shaking. As a result the movie is also a liitle shaking.
Also this gives unneeded noise for movie.
This is a disadvantage but it doesn't make a trouble.
Overall opinion: Very good!
I advise it everybody who thinks of an action camera!
First of all, it is doing what I wanted on the handle bars of a motorcycle. I bought afterwards a water proof case, good idea but I get reflection back from the lens to the windshield, not real bad but it's there on playback, (filter is needed to stop that). I also bought a universal mount that allows the use of a tri pod or in my case a 1" ball mount for my handlebars, (got from ram mounts and express mounts ) that allows me just about any angle I like or need to film. Contour gives you no NO no printed information as how to operare it change frame speeds nothing, That is something I really don't like. FYI the program Story Book has tools built into it for making changes to the camera. (Found that out by trial and error) Contour is fairly quick to respond to questions from their support site. Just plan on getting a 2nd or even a 3rd battery for making it thru the day and the max 32GB micro card as well get a 2nd one. Has a standard mini use port that you can charge as long as it's output is the standard 5 volts. Uses a lot of space on your PC storing your movies so if your gonna keep them all buy a external hard drive to store them in 1TB or better cause 32GB at a time adds up fast. Give youself time to figure it out and I'll bet you'll have a blast with it as I am. Hope I never need it for an accident for proof but if I do it'll be there. Best of luck and shop around for the best price. Mine is the 1080P with GPS, pretty cool item but not needed unless your wanting to send some one to a spot you were at. Cya in the movies...... Buddy
For capturing high-definition video when your hands are busy, this is the tool for the job. It's small, light, simple to operate and takes care of the filming while you enjoy the action. The wide angle lens and anti-shake processing take out the worst of the bumps which in most action videos leave you feeling seasick. I've just tried mine on a skiing trip and was very impressed. The colours are brilliant and the camera copes well with variations in light levels. For best results the camera must be very securely mounted as mine wobbled a bit on its goggle strap, and alignment can be tricky in bright conditions where the lasers are difficult to see. The software available is a bit rubbish though and kept crashing on my PC. Quicktime or VLC player are better. Be warned though - to view or process the huge 1080P video files you'll need a high-spec modern PC. As an alternative you can upload files up to 2Gb direct to Youtube and view in a lower resolution.
