To say that Led Zeppelin was a groundbreaking band that moved hard-rockin' blues into what would become heavy metal would still be selling them short. For music fans of the time, Led Zeppelin took music inside out, reinventing ways in which music in general, and blues specifically, could be played, heard, and enjoyed. These four individuals were responsible for the biggest changes in music since the Beatles.
This collection has all ten albums (listed by eBay in their synopsis) in order, one disc per album. I imagine that they could have easily whittled this collection down to six or seven discs, but they chose to keep the integrity of each album on its own merit. In addition to the ten albums, there are four bonus tracks placed after the Coda album: 'Baby Come On Home', 'Travelling Riverside Blues', 'Medley: White Summer / Black Mountain Side', and the often-played radio-friendly 'Hey Hey What Can I Do' (I loved getting this as the b-side of 'Immigrant Song' back in the day).
There is another listing for this collection listed as "Complete Studio Sessions (CD, 2002)" and I'm not sure what the difference is besides a later release date (if any differences exist at all). But this is one powerhouse of a collection, and rock music fans should be happier having the complete works rather than just the hits. With this collection, you can have it all at your fingertips.
This is the definitive collection of studio recordings by the greatest rock band of all time. If you are a music lover, you need this collection. Led Zeppelin has so much depth, that each album is like a greatest hits album, guaranteed to knock your socks off. There mastery of different Genres of music have kept me beckoning their call. From 50's rock/R&B (Hot Dog, Baby I'm Come on Home), country/ Stomp(Tangerine, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp), folk(Goin to California),psychedelic (Dazed and confused, Kashmir), blues(Since I've been loving you), plus every single song on Physical Graffiti(my all time favorite album). Do yourself a favor, find a great deal on this collection and pick it up, expand your musical vocabulary by the four fellows with a PhD in Musicology. Thank you Jimmy Page.
The first Zeppelin album I ever bought was IV and it's still one of my most favorite albums in my collection, but for some reason I never explored the band beyond that album. Neverteless, as a suburb dwelling child of the 70's, Led Zeppelin was constantly around me. Recently, I heard the song "Ten Years Gone" for the first time and was completely blown away. This seemed like a great time to get reconnected to some older music in light of today's uninspired dreck. So, I went looking for their albums individually and stumbled on the box set which was clearly the way to go.
It's all here! Every last track the band ever laid down in the studio and they've never sounded better thanks to Jimmy Page's remastering efforts. It's really hard to explain the significance of this band if you weren't there to see them develop but, I strongly recommend acquiring this set to anyone who considers themselves a fan of true rock and roll. Although they had a strong influence on acoustical music, simply put, every hard rock band since 1970 owes a great debt to Led Zeppelin. They truly forged a new direction in music and their legacy continues to ring loudly and proudly to this day.
This is a straight forward box set of Led Zeppelin's classic Lps on CD. Since Jimmy Page was involved with most of the mixes originally,it is good that he is the master on this project. I can find no flaw with the box set as it is although I prefer the Vinyl and picked up this collection out of convenience! Everything is here! (Hey,CDs can go places that vinyl just never could. Plus, drop them in your I Tunes library and watch the hard drive smoke! LOL) Call me a die hard vinyl guy but I just love that warmth. That's not taking anything away from this box set, that is just CDs in general. The box which accompanies this set is fantastic and for the die Hard Zep fan, there are plenty of liner notes! If there can be ANY down side to this package it is the Package itself! This has plagued box sets since there inception and that is that there is no standard size for these things! I have a special cupboard for these items and this one fits nicely as it is not as obnoxious as other packages and that is a plus!(It's slightly larger than the CD packaging and thus not too cumbersome. Everything is neat and organized.) So I highly recommend this for the Zep fan in you! Here's to all Rock 'N" Roll animals where ever you are. "It's been a long time..."
I am a huge Led Zeppelin fan, and like all Zeppelin fans, I wanted some Zeppelin CDs. Buying each CD was costly at $15-$20.00 per cd. I didnt want a 'best of' or 'hits' CD. 'best of' arent usally produced by the band and I wanted the music in it orginal form, produced by Jimmy Page himself. When I found "the complete studio recordings" I had to buy it. It will save you alot of money and time. You can have each album it one compact CD box. It has the orginal album art and a Led Zeppelin book. It also has a few Bonas songs that where never put on a Zeppelin album. Its a great item to own for any classic rock or Zeppelin fan. I give it the offical ***** 5 Star rating!
