I started working on computers back around the "In living Color days". Of course, I was a young teenager so all I could get my hands on were XT's and At's (as opposed to girls ha). Wish I would have kept a few (computers that is, not the girls)...Anyways, This book is Excellent!!! Not only does he explain the basics for the newbies but he really comes just short of quantum physics/mechanics for us seasoned vets. I really needed to catch up on the most current technology and It's all there!!! I would suggest buying a few notebooks to breakdown the 1300+ pages into something more reasonable for studying and there are quite a contradicting areas or all out discrepancies but a quick google search always reveals the truth. All and all, I found this book to be extremely accurate and maybe even overly Technical but...if you want to be an A+ Certified Technician, I guess it doesn't hurt to know too much on the subject. I haven't taken the tests yet but if I average under 90-95% I'd be very surprised given all that this book has to offer. Also, I plan to make flashcards of sticking points for the many tables in this book and truthfully (as a laptop technician)...I found the troubleshooting sections and free utility websites littered throughout this book to be priceless!!! I definitely recommend this book for anyone who really wants to know EXACTLY how everything in a computer works. My guess is this book would be a great step towards a degree in Computer Science so I suppose it'll work for the CompTIA exams! Also, my buddy in ITT is getting a great education but he learns more from me and this book these days than his 40k education is providing...a very powerful book indeed. The force is strong with this one.
I recently evaluated using this book as the primary textbook for our CompTIA A+ Training program. I found that it is very well written (in my opinion as most Mike Meyers books are) and helped me as an instructor, navigate between the classroom time and the lab time very well with the students.
I'd highly recommend this to others who are either teaching this course, or learning on a self-study plan. It worked very well for us.
The product is just what I ordered and is a magnificent book to study by. If you are just looking to increase your ability to make your own computer repairs or using this tool to pass the A+ certification exam, this is the tool to use.
The book is rather large but covers all you need to know, plus after certification the 40$ you paid will pay for it self at a job the first hour!!
Certifications are most important in the world today!

I have only read the first few chapters of this rather large book. So far it has been a easy read. It is the size of a textbook but does not read like one in my opinion. It also contains tons of pictures that illustrate exactly what the author is talking about. I would recommend it for anyone studying for the CompTIA A+ exam. However, if I fail the exam I will retract that recommendation, haha.
