An All Around DECENT Player

Review For: Coby MP601 (4 GB) MP3 Digital Media Player

Pros:
- Small, Lightweight
- Decent Headphones (included)
- Not Too Bad Video Quality (nothing special, but not SPECTACULAR at all.)
- Sound Is Decent (not really bass heavy at all, but it could just be my headphones. haven't tried using bass heavy headphones so that's up to you.)
- Decent Radio Sound Quality (TONS of stations to choose from. even WORLDWIDE ones. but they don't come in well at times.)
- Decent Photo Quality (again, nothing extraordinary.)
- VERY EASY TO USE Drag-And-Drop System For Adding Music, Photos, & Videos!!!

Cons:
- .MTV Video Format (.mtv Converters are a bit difficult to find for FREE)
- Sometimes Video Playback Can Be A Bit "Laggy" (like maybe by a couple of milliseconds. nothing dealbreaking though.)
- Screen Size (it's about the size of a U.S. Dollar Coin. but, I mean, I knew that when I bought it so it's not really that bad 'cuz that's what I paid for. But if you're looking for a Video Player and that size troubles you, DON'T GET THIS!)

Good value for your money. Not the best, but still gets the job done!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
Review For: Coby MP601 (4 GB) MP3 Digital Media Player

I've had this for about a week now, and I'd say it's pretty good.
Also being an owner of Apple products, this may sway my opinion of this media player a bit.
First of all, the size took me by surprise. I thought it would be like the size of those 3rd gen Apple iPod nanos, but it's actually almost half the size and weighs so little. Because of that, it may be more fragile than Apple products, so this is something I wouldn't recommend dropping on the ground (but of course, you wouldn't want to do that in the first place anyway).

Next, the controls are pretty nice. They're easy to go through, even though it may take a couple minutes to learn, as you would with any other brand new product. Even a technology-illiterate person would know how to get around it; I'd say its easier to cruise through than Apple iPods.

One problem that I have with this media player in comparison to Apple iPods is that when you're trying to listen to music is that when you play a song, then go to the menu to check out other stuff, the music immediately stops playing. So if you're going to do anything on this device, you'd have to do it one at a time. For examples, if you want to look at pictures, you can look at them. If you want to listen to music, you can do that too. However, you can't do both at the same time.
Another problem I've come across for art-sensitive people is the resolution on the screen. Of course it's not all that high-def., so the album art shows up really small and pixel-like to the point where you can't recognize what it is.
Also, since the screen is so small and lacks high-resolution, I wouldn't recommend trying to watch movies/videos on it.

However, a plus for this device is that when putting media on it, it comes to be very simple. You just plug it in, open up a window on your computer, and drag and drop files. I find this to be MUCH easier than having to download iTunes, then having to load everything on that library BEFORE you can put it into your media player.

The battery also lasts quite a good amount of time, considering how small it is. But I can't really say much since I've only had this about a week, and listen to it about 1~2 hours a day. The battery icon at the top still looks full, so let's see how long this will last!

In conclusion, this is pretty much like one of those popular Apple iPods, just with a few minor differences, and also in a more degraded version. On the bright side, it's MUCH cheaper, the money is worth the buy, and I would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for something small, lightweight, cheap, and wants to listen to music on the go. Plus, maybe the side of being able to carry small pictures with you! This media player does exactly what it was made to do, so why not go for it if you have an extra $25 to spare, and need something that will hold your 2000 songs/etc?

Coby MP601 (4 GB) Digital Media Player

Review For: Coby MP601 (4 GB) MP3 Digital Media Player

cannot find settings for shuffle. plays in order or have to create a play list.
The HOLD button does nothing. In the pocket, buttons get pushed while working out or running.
very slow to turn on and off.
GOOD: Battery holds LONG charge. more than 5 hours non-stop playing. easy to install music. Price was ok. $26
