My dad ordered the Cleveland Mashie for me in the 18 degree loft. I am very satisfied with the club. It feels the distance gap between clubs I had real nicely. It is long and straight. Off-center hits still have very good distance as well. I believe with the Mashie my game will improve very consistently. Cleveland did a great job!

I purchased during an equipment day where I golf.. I was basically replacing a Cleveland 22 degree launcher which I loved and it was still very useful until I lost in while walking on a bridge in Myrtle Beach. Anyhow, this is a goto club for me in many situations. I got the 20.5 loft and have hit it out of sand, waste areas, and where I need good control for 225 +- yards.
With all the rain, the rails came through on soft fairways. There is no chance this club will penetrate rough, so if anyone says so, they are a monster when swinging a club.
I find this club is easier to shape a shot than my launcher was. The ball flight is relatively a linear incline, and this is most likely due to the shaft they use which I think was well conceived and aimed at carry and soft landings with little release. I am most comfortable with irons, but every once in a while taking a divot to back the ball up is not what I want to do. Not taking that divot is a hard habit to stop, this club offers that soft controlled 'stay where your put' landing.. Opening up the face of an iron to do the same is a bit more guess work than this club, and there are times the feel is not there. If the green is small or the flag position is daunting I am better off hitting this club than an iron.
All the talk about increased club speed due to the rails - well, maybe, but, if your more about precision because the putt matters this is good alternative in some cases to an iron.
A follow-up entry. I have used this club in many rounds by now. Short of my Cleveland wedges, the Mashie is the best utility club I have ever used. It sets up like an iron. I swing it like an iron, and its just in between a 5 iron and a three wood for me at least. (20.5 degree). Its like the three iron I should have purchased with my set.

The Mashie lives up to it's billing in every way. Great weight and balance, a perfect trajectory for increased distance. The head design promotes confidence at address, a very easy to hit and forgiving club that allows you to still shape shots, an easy play from all lies. The cons on these clubs were tough to get out of the rough, I found that untrue, as long as you hit down like an iron and not try to sweep the club, of course I could see a problem in really deep rough, but then with any club. I previosly played the TaylorMade rescue and the Bobby Jones and these clubs beat them hands down for the right money. Cleveland a lot more than great wedges!

The Cleveland Mashie 3 (21 degree) is easy to hit clean and straight, in part due to its closer to iron length shaft but without giving up distance. Versatile for longer / shorter shots, good out of longer grass. Has replaced my personally built reliable hybrid as even more reliable - my highest recommendation.

This latest hybrid by Cleveland is a great design that hits easily like any iron, but packs the punch of a fairway wood. I like the classic look of it better than the Taylor Made Rescue hybrids, and it hits a ton!
