Laser milled vs Vokey, Can't go wrong!
Created: 05/04/10
I was first introduced to the Cleveland CG15 wedge at a large chain golf store, and the salesman told me to put my fingers over the grooves to feel the mini-grooves between the main grooves - that and knowing that it was "laser-milled" sold me (but just not at that store). Picked up a new 54* (avg distance for me, around 90-110 yards) and 60* (use from 85 yards or less) in black pearl on ebay and was sooo excited to bring them out to the course.
I was at first, a little disappointed because of the hype, since they didn't provide the 10 foot spin back as I had hoped, rather, they spun back around 1 - 3 feet on average (sometimes less, sometimes more depending on course conditions) which was no different that my Titleist spin-milled vokeys (in the oil can finish) which were over a season old and well used. I did notice, however, on short pitch or flop shots near the green (say 10 to 30 yards), they did stop better than the vokeys - but please note, I was comparing them to used vokeys, albeit in a different finish.
On the bright side, they feel awesome, look great at address and give you the confidence to hit the shot you want. (I also bought them in oil-quench, but are saving those for later). In all, they perform just as well as my Titleist spin-milled vokeys, just not that much better as I had hoped.
I am about a 5 handicap, but no matter what your skill level, if you're looking for a great wedge, you can't go wrong with these. If your a Titleist guy, then it's just an aesthetic matter. Performance-wise, they are pretty much interchangeable.

The Cleveland CG15 wedge is a very nice product. From the color variations down to fine details. The CG15's contain the zip grooves which gives you better playing ability. Also the club has a laser milled face. How could you go wrong with a Cleveland wedge anyways???

This is the best wedge I have played a round of golf with. Great spin and distance control. Hit the ball high and stopped on a dime. The black pearl finish take the glare off.

Black Pearl Wedge. Best buy I have ever made for chips

This wedge is excellent when used with a high Quality ball (Pro VI type) It really checks and bites when struck correctly. It goes through high grass very well and comes out of sand great. I bought it so as to have 4 wedges. I have 4* between all my wedges and the 58* fits in perfectly. Its bounce slides through high grass around the greens and the sand. The extra small grooves put bite on the ball from tight lies. Best wedge I have ever owned. 16par3
