Movie synopsis
Chronicling a day in the life of Quick Stop clerk Dante Hicks, CLERKS captures the hilarity of the humdrum even as it raises slackerdom to existential proportions. From behind his counter, Dante desperately tries to exert some power over the crazy customers, his own love life, and his incorrigible friend and fellow clerk Randal--the type who sees nothing wrong in closing the video shop he works in to go rent movies from a better store.

Best. Movie. EVAR!

Review For: Clerks (DVD, 2004, 3-Disc Set, 10th Anniversary Edition)

Clerks is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The charm of the movie is that the entire movie is filmed in black in white by a comic book/movie nerd. Clerks had a very low budget, Kevin Smith(who plays Silent Bob in the movie), sold his entire comic book collection, max out 8 credit cards, and used his entire college fund to create this masterpiece of a movie. After the movie became a hit, he bought back his entire comic book collection...along with a comic book shop. The man is a genious. Clerks was the first movie in the View Askewniverse(Kevin Smith's series of films). Mallrats apparently took place before this movie. Clerks' main character, Dante and Randall, make several references to other movies, such as Star Wars. The duo argue about the guys being contracted to make the Death Star were probably killed in Return of the Jedi, since the Death Star wasn't fully made and they were working on it. Various what ifs come about in the entire series of movies similar to this. The Jay and Silent Bob parts are just pure awesome. Both characters have since then have appeared in TV shows, movies, music videos, and commercials. Many of their old commercials for MTV are on this DVD in particular. The DVD is loaded with extras. I highly recommend this DVD to any nerd out there who likes comics, Star Wars, and just funny movies in general.

Clerks is Kevin Smith at his Best - Dark & Funny

Review For: Clerks (DVD, 2004, 3-Disc Set, 10th Anniversary Edition)

From Miramax, Clerks is one of those Kevin Smith movies that has developed a massive cult following… and for great reason. This movie is hilariously sarcastic and dark look at the mundane life of two, obviously, clerks. Take the tag line for instance: “Just because they serve you.. doesn’t mean they like you.”

Rolling Stone called it “Screamingly Funny!”
New York Newsday called it “The Funniest Movie of the Year!”

If you’re in the market for what the Detroit News called “a lively comic adventure,” Clerks dleviers with wholesale hilarity. Its one wild day in the life of a pair of overworked counter jockeys whose razor-sharp wit and on-the-job antics give a whole new meaning to customer service. Even while braving a nonstop parade of unpredictable shoppers, the clerks manage to play hockey on the roof, visit a funeral home, and straighten out their offbeat love lifes. The boss is nowhere in sight, so you can bet anything can – and will – happen when these guys are left to run the store.

Though the acting isn’t grade A, the writing is. The humor and filming are off-beat enough that Clerks is very different… and, at the end of the day, that’s a great thing.

Work Sucks

Review For: Clerks (DVD, 1999)

I used to work in a video store and from what my district manager told me. This movie is the most STOLEN movie by employees. Now if that doesn't give you a good enough reason to watch it what does. Kevin Smith's movies are unique in a way because the dialogue in them is that which normal people speak. I recall back on a time in 10th grade when my teacher was talking about Dawson's Creek and he made the comment that no teenagers talk that way. Then you have a Kevin Smith movie where people are crude and straight to the point. Who doesn't know a character like Jay who swears every other word and only talks about sex and drugs.
Now as for Clerks this movie is great on so many levels. It follows the day adventure of Dante Hicks and his so called day off. This movie has the employees of the quick stop closing the store and playing roller hockey on the rough to knocking dead people out of caskets. Now this movie may not be award winning but it is real. As with all Kevin Smith movies it is really about relationships. In short one of my personal top 10 movies. Snoochies!!!

Kevin Smith's First Flick

Review For: Clerks (DVD, 1999)

This is a great movie - if you like Kevin Smith and that type of humor. Personally, I LOVE Kevin and can't get enough of his movies. This one is special because it was made with an amazingly low budget and the actors are all friends of Kevin's. It's in black and white and introduces the characters of Jay and Silent Bob. This is the one that shot Kevin to fame and has become quite the cult classic. Try it....you won't be disappointed.

Clerks Part One is the SHIZZLER

Review For: Clerks (DVD, 1999)

Before I get ahead of myself, Jay and Silent Bob cement themselves into history in this film, paving the way for such other Canadian act as "The Trailer Park Boys". This film is a genius work of art and you will laugh. You will feel pain for those independently contracted "Death Star" employees who were unknowingly slaughtered by "Luke Skywalker". This film is a comedy and it's shot in black and white to piss off the big movie companies. Behold this film. Embrace it. Canada and America and Libya and Iran and EVERYWHERE, even in Jasmine Revolution torn China, we all know how to laugh and we all should take the time to do so. This film greases the tracks of laughter for a freight train of fun.
