Jack Ryan is back and this time the bad guys are in his own government. When Admiral James Greer becomes sick with cancer, Ryan is appointed acting CIA Deputy Director of Intelligence. Almost before he can draw a breath in his new position, one of the president's closest friends and his family are murdered in their sleep by what appears to by drug cartels. Ryan is called in to investigate, but unknown to him the CIA has already sent a secret field operative to lead an illegal paramilitary force in Colombia against cartels. Things get even more complicated when his team is set up and he loses and agent in the field and a friend of his wife's, who was the murdered agent's secretary is murdered that same day. Ryan must then risk not only his career, but his life to expose the truth behind the mystery.
I now have the entire story from start to finish and its great to see the charter evolve from start to finish.
Harrison Ford plays a senator in this movie that is thrust into the position
of acting CIA director. Shortly after his taking the position it is found
that a friend of the President has been killed by drug lords and the President
before he knows the facts directs action against the drug cartels-while trying
to cover up his knowledge that his friend has been acting with the drug cartels. The CIA starts a covert action against the cartels using US military
men that are sent to Columbia. They blow up drug labs, airplanes and the rug
lords themselves-but are taken out of the loop by the CIA sector chief and left
in the jungle - with information on their whereabouts turned over to the cartels. Much good action ensues with Ford going to Columbia to find the team
that has been abandoned and tangleing with the security chief of the cartels.
A very good, fast moving movie that you will enjoy.
In Clear and Present Danger, Harrison Ford plays a director in the CIA and needs to work through the major issues with the drug lords. This movie is loaded with action and drama. A great DVD to add to your collection and for all Harrison Ford Fans!
This Third Film In the Jack Ryan Series...was entertaining.
The action was fine, the plot moved along, and Harrison Ford came across in this role again.
Definitely a movie for those that like this genre, or Tom Clancy novels.
Recommended for at least a rental DVD!
This is a highly entertaining movie. It is well paced andhas no unnecessary scenes. The funeral/masacre scene is extremely well done. This movie can be watched over and over again. The cast is first rate and Ford is,of course, terrific as Jack Ryan again. If you like Harrison Ford dramas THIS is the movie for you. Do not hesitate to own this movie or to give it to a movie lover as a gift.
