My husband had mentioned he'd like to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang since it had been years since seeing it. We had rented it from the library and my two year old fell in love with it. I kept checking it out because she kept asking to watch it. After six weeks I finally returned it and she kept asking for it. There are many versions of the movie available on ebay and I found this one for a total for $7 (including shipping). It was brand new and even includes a bonus dvd. We still watch it darn near every day and my daughter even does one of the dances. It's a great family movie with story telling, signing, and dancing. If you watch this you'll quickly become a Dick Van Dyke fan.
My kids love the music and movie! They were very excited to see "Burt" (Dick Van Dyke) as they know him from Mary Poppins movie. The movie is long, but the story flows very well. All the songs are lots of fun - of course the highlight for the kids is the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang theme - I've since downloaded it onto my mp3 player too. As a kid, I really looked forward to the tv broadcast of this movie every year - but now our family can enjoy our own copy - with fun special features as well - anytime!
A wonderful DVD for all ages with great acting and a musical score that is easy to sing along with. How many times I can remember singing Truly Scrumptious and of course the title song, and many others in the beautiful score. Truly a classic not to be shared with the young as the store is universal and we all have our dreams and fantasies. Hard to believe that the original story is written by Ian Fleming, also the writer of all the James Bond stories, but when you think about the same intrigue is in this movie as well as all the Bonds. Highly recommended viewing.
This is one of the most memorable children's movies of all time in my opinion. It's got everything you want in a movie: Adventure, children as central characters, great catchy song tunes, comic relief, beautiful scenery, candy (factory!), good vs the evil plot and of course a magical car.
The actors are the best and the rating is good for kids of all ages, though I would not let kids under 6 see it as there is a child kidnapper (he'd be called a molester in today's society) and a wierd king with a kinky wife. Well, nobody is perfect!
In any case, if your looking to spend some quality time with your kids -albeight looking at a screen for about 2 hours- this is a great movie to do it with. The kids will never forget it and will love it as much as their parents did when they were children. 5 Stars!
I love this type of movie for my young grandchildren. The majority of movies made for "children" today sometimes have references and language that should kekep them from the "G" rating but do not.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was made when children's movies were exactly that--no foul language, no references to "adult" activities, etc.
I am no prude, but I really think children should be older than elementary school before seeing and hearing some things. This is a movie the whole family can watch together and no one will be embarassed.
