a decent introductory book for general chemistry. has very good explanation of concepts, a huge variety of problems to practice the concepts. for full benefit, better have the solution manual as well for answers and complete explanations of all problems. got this book to study for the DAT because the one used by my professor stinks.
This book has some of the best examples found in any text book. It is far supperior to most other text books. It covers the topic very thuroughly and well explained concepts. It covers the different topics and relates each chapter to previous chapters and is very complete. I recommend this book to any chemistry student, especially chemistry majors. It will make you an expert.
I opted to purchase the 10th addition because the most recent 11th edition is $200. The 10th addition is nearly identical to the 11th, with small differences in page content. This is a fantastic text book that I used over 20 years ago in community college (third addition?) It has been updated with modern illustrations and computer generated graphics that improve the presentation of the material. However the key concepts of chemistry have not changed over the past 50 or so years. As such, just about any addition of Brown and Lemay will work. If you want to save a significant amount of money on a text book you can easily substitute the 10th addition for the 11th.
Great book for my first chemistry class for college. Insightful and gave me a good foundation for my major.
I bought this book to use it in my first year in General Chemistry class.
I like this product because it corresponds exactly in chapters, exercises, clarity compare to my school recommended chemistry's book.
