I have recently bought a lightly used, vintage model --approximately 50 years old. It works great--likes a charm.
In my experience, I have found Champion juicers to be the best. After years of using a Sampson, I was exposed to using both a Green Star and a Champion. The Champion ended up as my favorite. The steel construction of this juicer is amazing, weighing at almost 30 pounds. The motor is unbeatable and lasts forever. The overall functioning is outstanding. Fruits and veggies easily go in and juice neatly comes out, no leaking, clogging or anything. And the banana ice cream it creates comes out quite similar to that from a soft serve machine--super yummy. And clean-up of the Champion is a breeze; it is the easiest I have experienced of any juicer tried.
No juicer on the market is perfect however; there are a couple of minor downsides to the Champion, I feel. One downside is the cutter: it can get stuck onto the shaft after use. Its important to apply coconut oil or similar to the shaft before putting on the cutter and removing it promptly after juicing. The cutter in general,is sharp and must be handled carefully when removing it from the shaft and also when cleaning it. The other downside for me is the juice thickness,I prefer my juice thinner than what the Champion produces. Although, I have found an easy resolution: I pour the juice through a fine mesh strainer and then all is good. As a bonus what remains within the strainer make for an ideal fruit sauce, like applesauce(when juicing fruits.)
All-in-all, for the amazing construction, functioning, price, appearance and reputation, I recommend Champion all the way!
We wanted to get started in juicing fruits & veggies so after a week of reading reviews and learning about what's available we settled for the Champion because:
1. No need to cut to small pieces, you can push an entire carrot or cucumber if it's slim.
2. Fast operation and easy to clean
3. Proven model, same design over decades, can't be wrong.
4. Did not find any site where people mentioned upgrading to another brand or operating type.
5. Masticating Juice extraction. Large scale Industrial equipment manufactureres use this technology in Juice plants (I.E Tetra Pak).
We have used it for 2 weeks so far and are very happy with our choice.
While looking for a way to get increased nutrition, I came across articles about consuming juice and the benefits. The juicers recopmmended in the articles were only two of them. This and the Norwalk.
The price of this is literally $1000.00 dollars less and can do everything the other can do and actually more. This juicer does not heat the produce like a centrifical one will, therefore preserving the enzymes.
You do not need a press or food bags, but you can use the homoginizer and a press if you want. There are many other types of attachments to get for it. From a grain mill to a greens attachment.
We are now able to get organically produced produce and make organic juice that we are confident in the nutritional quality of.
We are still using it and have realized the health benefits of weight loss, brighter complextion and longer intervals between eating without the hunger pains or mood swings associated with sugars.
I have recommended this product for juicing. Anything else is below par in my opinion. This makes the fight for a healthier life easier during the rounds to make more juice. Cleanup is easy. Excellent product.
I had been juicing with a Jack LaLane...it didn't work well. I used to have a Champion juicer in the past. I was so delighted to find it again. My SO and I went on a juice fast and the machine made it so easy with 90% veggie and 10% fruit. The machine came and we used it the same day it arrived. I even tried Craig's list but everyone was much more pricey. I am so pleased I found this one. I take frozen bananas and close off the screen on the bottom and bing bang boom......soft serve ice cream. It tastes like ice cream without the calories. Now we juice one day a week. That you EBay
Extracts juice using pressure, not centrifugal force via a spinning basket like most other juicers. A fast spinning basket introduces a magnetic field that alters the molecular structure of the enzymatic and mineral constituents of the juice as it passes across it, drastically reducing the benefit of the juice. This juicer and the Norwalk press are the only ones that don't alter those constituents. Also... sharpen your own cutter by using a small triangular file. It fits perfectly between the teeth and just a stroke or two does an absolutely amazing job of rehabilitating and extending the life of the cutter. Great juicers.
