I love my new camera. It takes great candids of people, especially with the Soft Flash setting. The Menu gives you EASY access the many settings you can change to fit your needs. I was used to Kodak Z series before and wanted a 10X Zoom. I like the wide angle and am not used to being able to capture an image without having to back up.
This camera is very good at focusing on small items close up. I work on pianos and need to take detailed shots of small parts to show damage to clients so I can sell repair work.
The camera has an aluminum body and feels weighty (in a good way). Plastic cameras break so easily. The LCD screen is very nice, except in sunlight. But I don't find it to be a big deal.
There are different shooting modes in Best Shot. EBAY mode saves the shots in a special folder for up loading. My son like to play around in Silent Movie mode which is black and white.
I put in an 8 megapixel Class 10 SD storage card and the pictures cycle to memory in under a second.
I also found on EBAY a Great Deal for 2 1600 milliamp NP-80 batteries with a dual charger for $15. That gives me 3 bats. The problem is it won't run down so I can change batteries. I'm going to have to buy another camera for my son so he can use the extra 1600 maH bat.
The Manual I downloaded from Casio isn't easy to understand just by reading it, but if you work through the camera while reading it , it makes more sense.
You can just push the review button and see your shots without hitting the power button or activating the lens. If , while reviewing you decide to take another shot, all you do is touch the shutter button half way and the camera turns on. With the camera on, if you go to review for a few seconds, The lens closes to protect the lens and conserve power. SMART!
I really recommend this camera if you need a simple to use camera. I will buy another one.
Thanks for making a significantly better camera than Kodak at the same pricepoint.
I bought the Casio Exilim EX-12 camera because it got a good rating from Consumer's Report and was a fair price. It takes excellent pictures up to 10X zoom. The only thing I don't like is the instructions are only available on line and I would like to have received a complete printed Users Guide. I don't like learning to use new things and would find any camera intimidating but am doing well with it.
I relied somewhat on Consumer's Reports. There are so many to chose from and new models come out every few months. This camera is small, takes great pictures, and I especially liked the "package" that included a case, extra battery, etc.
I already have a camera like this. I have had it for a couple of years. I bought this one ofr my husband because he wanted his own. This camera takes great pictures and the zoom is really great.
Another good product from Casio , because of my work I use to get an average of 300 pictures a day and Casio's cameras have the quality to get my work done !
