I've a been using this camera for over a year now (I now own two of them). This is the best camera for shooting short movies clips in low lighting. It beats any other camera I've used in the past, for portability, battery life and brightest when it comes to recording video for events in low lighting.
The quality of the HD is good at 24 frames per second vs the EXILIM 200 which is the 2010 replacement model which only does HD in 20 frames per second, which is substandard for HD video recording. Standard video records at 30 Frames per second 640x480.
For normal lighting the pictures are good but no better than any other camera, manual colors adjustments may be required.
Also optical zoom is only 3x.
The audio still only limited to mono verse stereo, but the audio picks up sound well as long as the audio levels are not to high.
The camera is excellent for how I use it which is recording events indoors with low, or color lighting. It is average for pictures, but meets my needs fine.
Got this one a real bargain :)
Picture quality is fine, closeup pictures and high resolutions tend to lead to not perfect results but nothing out of the ordinary for this class of cameras
Features are standard but could be better (especially for the full price range), zoom is only 3x optical which should be 5x but I guess slimness of camera doesnt allow enough room for it.
Best feature is pretty solid build and dimensions/weight. This is REALLY thin and lightweight camera that u can keep in your pocket at all times.
value for money is great if u get bargain like me but to pay full price for new camera - NO! there are far superior options for money, depends what u looking for u can find cheaper camera with similar characteristic or better one for same price..
Really like the ability to choose amoung many preset options on this camera. Plus the auto focus is my style of picture taking.
This camera replace my Sony Mavica 300 which was a big, heavy camera but took excellent pictures. This does everything it did and is cell phone size!
Only cons is that it won't take a picture closer than 10 inches; won't get a nice clear really close picture like my mavica. Also zoom isn't much. My mavica had a nice zoom. But how often do you really use either of those. Me, not that often. I perfer the small size.
Positives: great rating by Consumer's Report, small slim size (one of the smallest) interesting color (promoted as pink, however, everyone agrees it is more a light bronze) easy to use, gift to wife; she likes it, enough megapixels to take great pictures to be printed as copies. Large LCD
Negatives: none at this time.
It was a gift to my wife who wanted a small point and shoot digital camera for her purse. She absolutely loves it. Has already taken hundreds of pictures of our new grandsons.
It was reviewed well in consumer reports. Lots of options, helps you to take the best pic for the condition, small, compact, travels well, high megapixels. takes good pictures in low light. relatively fast shutter speed. does not come with a memory card, so be sure to buy one or get a bundled package.
