Unlike the ZR60, the ZR70 is far more versatile with more storage capability and ease of use. Auto-focus, battery life, and night vision recording in low light are the features I appreciate the most. I upgraded from the ZR60 due to the video wentout on it, and it was more economical to upgrade than to repair. These camera's are plentiful and inexpensive.
I like the versatility of using either a tape or storage card. Ample plugins as well. The ZR60 did not have the card option.
Great litle camera, but not reliable, Our first purchase broke down and was repaired without charge from the factory. It broke down again, a completely different problem, this time not under warranty. So we bought a used camera on ebay which works fine so far. Out first camera had not seen a lot of use. I would not recommend this camera because of its unreliability.
I was very excited to receive the Cannon ZR70MC however, the camera no longer works. The only thing I see on the camera is a black screen. I feel I just lost all my money and I feel very bad about buying this camera. I NEED HELP. Like another camera.
The ZR series of Canon camcorders are some of the most reliable in the used market. I purchase over 50 per year for school programs and they hold up extremely well
Stay away from the ZR series camcorders. I had a ZR65mc that suddenly stopped ejecting. This one did the same. I see countless reports from others affirming the bad design. Also, the audio defaults to 12-bit 32K so you have to go into the menue every time to change it to something listenable (16-bit 48K). This particular one clearly still samples at 12-bit 32K even in the 16-bit 48K mode, though my ZR65 did not have that issue.
