Attractive, ultracompact design; easy operation; well-rounded, basic feature set.
Photo quality dips above ISO 200; flat buttons can be difficult to press accurately.
Simple and stylish, the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS is a fine back-pocket camera as long as your photo-quality expectations are reasonable.

I love the ELPH. It takes quality pictures quickly. It's small enough to carry anywhere so I can snap a picture any time.
This is my spare. It is hard to find 'view finder' cameras. I believe this is the last from canon.
Performance is great in all functions.
It feels well made, has a metal body with rounded corners, fits well in hand or pocket. Controls are easy to use and pictures are crisp and colorful, and 10MP is enough for my needs. I do a lot of nature photography with a big lens, and this little Canon takes care of everything else - macro, scenery and underwater, while weighing much less than extra lenses for my SLR. No, it's not waterproof, but it's cheap to get a Dicapac waterproof bag for it. For macro it focuses to 3cm and I can get great close ups of insects and flowers. It's not great in low light, you wouldn't want to push it higher than ISO 400. You need to be careful of dust and grit getting into the zoom mechanism and causing it to jam, and if dust gets inside the tiny lens you get marks on your pictures. That said, I used and abused mine untill all the symbols got worn off the buttons and the monitor went bad. Then I reviewed a lot of similar cameras but could not find anything that met my needs so well or was such good value for money, so I bought another good used identical model to replace it!
I PURCHASED THIS CAMERA BECAUSE i HAD LOST ONE OF THE SAME. i THINK A VIEWFINDER IS NEEDED FOR OUTDOOR SHOTS IN BRIGHT SUNLIGHT. tHREE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS OWN THIS SAME CAMERA AND ARE WELL PLEASED WITH IT. i HAVE OTHER CAMERAS E.G.NIKON COOLPIX. tHEY BOTH TAKE EXCELLENT PICTURES, I CARRY A CAMERA ALL THE TIME AND FREQUENTLY USE IT IN STORES TO REMIND ME OF THINGS i LIKE OR A GOOD IDEA FOR A GIFT, BUT IN THE TEXAS SUN I HAVE TO HAVE THAT VIEWFINDER.
Works beautifully! Thank you! and as for my 100 character limit, it can go suck it! Why? There ain't much more to this camera than what the specifications have said about it. One thing I can say though; the quality you see on the LCD screen is either matched or better once the pics are uploaded on the computer. How that for you 100 character limit, eh?
