Good looking, easy-to-use design; very good photo quality.
Basic feature set for its price.
If all you need or want is to point and shoot, the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS does that well.

I purchased Olympus for years, and had a lot of problems, before my Apple Tech told me how Mac friendly Canon is.
Features I like is the: larger LED over the SD1100IS that I have used since '07. My previous Canon has served me well and that is the reason I stick with Canon and it is very MAC friendly. Easy to download and great photos quality. I live in Branson and attend a lot of shows. The photos are not good in a dark theater from a distance.
The downside is, I thought the battery and charger would be interchangeable with the SD1100. Not true. Canono changed the battery just enough where they are not compatible so I ended up buying another charger and spare battery which will come in handy.
Also, I went for 8.0 Megapixels to 12.1 and that makes a difference.
I will know more when I find a manual and learn how to use it.
Good handy but not as expected. Not easy to hold the camera. Have to use the hand strip to hold on the wrist. Picture quality was so so. Distance shot is under exposed with flash. Buy extra batteries and charger and cables. Still can be used and carry on the pocket as a point and shot camera. May be you would like to get the latest model and spent more for your need. It is handy to carry and looks smart with a light blue color and small in size.
I've had two other Canon cameras, including my favorite SD1100 IS, which got smashed in a car door. The new one has all the features of the dead one, plus a neat face timer mode. When another face is recognized, the 2 second timer starts. The camera can recognize 9 faces at a time. You can take your time getting into the picture.
Everything about camera operation is great. But the pictures are pretty large files--50% larger than 8MPx cameras. This means more emails with fewer, larger attachments, if you are mailing.
A couple of nights ago, I used the fireworks setting, which was very effective and gave me the best fireworks pictures of my life. Previously had taken wonderful pictures of the full moon rising over the Gulf. People pictures work fine, too.
The camera is thin, light, and large enough to hold onto, but will fit into a shirt pocket. The battery lasts all day and all night. Extra batteries/chargers are inexpensive on eBay and work as expected.
I've also taken some B&W and Sepia "period" pictures with the camera that look convincingly "antique," experimented with different white balances to compensate for different light sources, and have noticed (but not used) features to shift color/contrast balances. There are good modes to compensate for front- and back-lighted subjects, night photos (great), snow/sand scenes, and rapid-fire sequencing like a motor drive on a film camera. Time lapse photos of my mushrooms pushing up, etc.
The features on this camera would have cost well into four figures (USD), just a few years ago on a film camera. My tripod is on the way!
If you can master 10% of what this camera offers, you will be invited to photograph every event!
I like this little camera - it is easy to use and takes great pictures. Biggest disappointment - no veiwfinder. I find this very challenging when taking outdoor shots. I knew thatgoing in but Canon does not make an elph with a viewfinder any longer. Other issue - LCD screen not the best I've ever seen but is about what you would expect for this price. Still think this is a good value for the money.
