The Canon PowerShot A800 is a no-frills point-and-shoot that takes AA-size batteries. It's easy to use and produces nice photos despite its low price.
The A800 has slow shooting performance and a low-resolution LCD that's very difficult to see in bright sunlight.
"Considering its bargain price, you'll get excellent photos from the Canon PowerShot A800. Just don't expect anything more than that and you'll be fine."

This camera was a good value for the cost on ebay, I wouldn't purchase it for full price in-store. I like the size, the options for flash storage (takes several types of SD cards), and the auto focus works wonderful. I've yet to play with all settings at this time, but plan to do so very soon.
Cons: The flash causes distortion of most pictures, and therefore I leave it off unless in extremely dark situations. There is a delay between the press of the button and the picture being taken, which causes some subjects to move in scenes before picture exposure finished.
I think it is a good starter digital camera, but for those wanting a high quality camera with more options, I wouldn't recommend this product. The option to set video is hard to access, and playback audio is barely audible, although video quality is comparable to others in the same class.
I got this product for my niece for Christmas. It's very Compact, stylish and perfect for taking photos. I don't like it that you have to use AA batteries. I wish the LCD screen could have been bigger, but overall still a great product.
The main reason I chose this camera was that in was a Canon. I am very satisfied with it. I really like the picture quailty because the photos turn out very clear. I also enjoy the auto-focus. The only cons are that the videos do not have sound, and that the camera does not like to zoom after the target is focused. Besides that, the time it takes for the shutter to close and take the photo is average. I am very happy with this camera.
I bought the camera so I could take pictures of earrings that I am selling on ebay, the camera was easy to set up and use. I am happy with the camera and the abilty to upload the pictures to my computer with no issue. I have nothing bad to say about the Canon PowerShot A800, I love it.
I purchased this camera specifically for getting close up shots and it does everything I wanted. I also love the 2 AA batteries instead of having to recharge a lithium ion battery.
It doesn't have the mega pixels of a more expensive camera but for close shots it is excellent!
