That club is the straightest driver I have put my hands on, might not suit a golfer who wants to shape its shots, but that is not my problem as long as I want my drives to be on the short stuff.
The Fuboki shaft is excellent, slightly stiffer than regular even if marked REGULAR.
The head shape is weard looking, but that cannot be seen at address
The sound is the one you expect to be delivered by a driver not like the tinnny, high pitch sound provided by most FT Callaway drivers (FT3, FT5, FTI)
The tour version is more suitable to golfers who do not have to fight a slice
Not the longest driver I have used (and I have used a lot) but still in the long drivers league.
Good it for a good price as well
I came across this driver on eBay at a great deal. I couldn't pass it up. I received it not too long ago and was exciting about heading over to the range.
I read a lot of reviews on this driver and most, if not all, of the hype is definitely true. This driver hits straight with a slight natural fade. This is probably due to the slightly open face of the "Tour" edition. The square head may be a little awkward at first but, you I got used to it rather quick. Just grip it and rip it. I probably averaged about 255 yards with this driver which is further than my TM Burner that I presently use.
However, there are a few things that I did notice about this driver. It's center of gravity (CG) does not favor someone who already has a natural high trajectory. I am not too familiar with the Fubuki shaft but, it does not seem to be a high flex-point and soft-tip shaft - which is what i favor.
Nonetheless, this driver is definitely nice and the craftsmanship is evident. The performance it offers is just not for me. I would recommend that any buyer make sure they know what kind of club head they are looking for - low spin, etc.
This is most recent generation of Callaway Square head. This was also an iMix model with interchangeable shafts. I purchased to get the Graffaloy Epic Shaft. The head was just part of the deal. Well, the FT iQ is one straight driver and solid. It is very stable and wants to fly straight. Pretty nice driver. I was impressed. Several people have hit this 9.5 Tour model head and the better players ALL hit it well. The Epic shaft is also a very good shaft. Not too stiff but very stable and plays low torque. Launch is mid.
Bought the FT-iQ about a month ago. Took a while to get used to - didn't get consistent results early (pretty routine with new clubs). Like the swing-weight, feel and sound. Never thought I'd get a square headed driver, but it looks good and need some forgiveness once in a while. Overall a great club with amazing technology for a good price.
I have had a lot of problems slicing the ball, and after reading many reviews, decided to purchase the FT-iQ. This club won't fix a bad swing, but my shots definitely hold a very straight line with this club. I've played more than 54 holes with this driver, and I have to say that it's the best golf purchase I have ever made. My driving distance is the same with the FT-iQ as it was with my old TaylorMade R7 460, but I am definitely keeping more tee shots in the fairway. With this club in bag, I just broke my personal best!
