I was looking for a larger driver than what my set of clubs came with and buying a few used drivers gave me a very good idea of what they could do and what I was looking for. The Callaway club is very solid and can send the ball further than my original driver. The balance is good and the quality is top notch. I like the club very much.
Was looking for a big 460 cc driver. Didn't feel I could afford a new one because I don't play that much. Therefore a used one was my choice. There is none better than a Callaway Big Bertha Driver. Found just what I wanted. I can tell the club is used but there are a lot of strokes left in it. I just love the feel of the big headed driver. Couldn't be happier.
I bought this driver to get away from the "Here, have this driver for free" golf game I've been on. I wanted to make sure I had a good quality brand. I've never owned a good name brand before. While this one is used, and slightly scuffed, it is still in great condition.
This driver is 9 degrees loft which is the lowest I've ever owned. It allows the ball to roll more after landing, which is important for me. I tend to hit my drives somewhat high. And roll it does. Yesterday was the first time I played it, and I hit the longest tee shot I've ever hit on hole #1 probably twenty-five yards farther than typical. AND with a strong sidewind.
I've had to adjust my tee height to hit this, but when you hit the sweet spot it is wonderful. It has a nice "clink" when you connect, and you feel it. It's like when you hit a baseball really well in the sweetspot and it feels like you barely touched the ball.
Medium shaft flex is fine, I don't swing excessively hard. I used to hit a mild fade shot. With this club, I tend to draw it slightly left.
This club is so good I'm investigating fairway woods to match.
As a lifelong golfer I have an expert understanding and knowledge of equipment. After trying several drivers over the last two years I simply could not find one I felt comfortable with. The new technology has a lot to offer but there is a certain novelty aspect to all of it. The equipment industry is dependent on selling new "advanced" equipment every year but the market is generally to the 92% of all golfers who do not break 80. I am not in that group.
I looked very specifically for the club I bought based on: Head size (smaller) very specific shaft type and length, bore-through construction, material (titanium) and degree of loft. All of this found in the Callaway Big Bertha Titanium from 2004. It was also important that I found a club that was as close to new as possible. Even though the product I bought was listed as "pre-owned" and it is, I also noticed in the photos that there was adhesive residue from the mfgrs. shaft sticker that is standard for Callaway products so I knew it had not been used much at all and that proved to be true. I am 200% satisfied with this purchase and the club is performing exactly as I need it to and is everything I was wanting in a "new" driver. I am a 2 handicap.
I just got this club and haven't gotten to hit it that much. I like Callaway clubs. I am trying to figure out what degree of driver I hit best. I have a 10, 11, 12 and 12 1/2.
