Incredible Improvement on an already Great Game

I will not be speaking on the Multiplayer or the controversy there. But, I get these kind of games for the single player modes. I already have a few games I play online and not looking to add to that.

That being said, they've expanded some great things into the single player modes. First off, the variety of guns and attachments for them is huge. Lots of new weapones scope and not, red dot, over under AUG w/shotgun and others like that. Some missions even give you access to call in the AC130 or other air support as well as different weapons with something of a sonar type attachment that sends a pulse out in front of you and lights up any enemy's close enough to catch the pulse. Great thing for the snow levels w/ low visibility.I even like the way the character holds the knife in the opposite hand that supports the gun hand when using a pistol. Very smooth play and great graphics w/o having to have a $4k machine. I'm playin this on my s939 athlon 64 system w/ an Opteron 175, 2g of DDR (not ddr2 or 3), and an HD 3850 512m pciE vid card on the old Asus a8n-sli deluxe. Still runs on my 19" at high/very high stettings getting upwards of 80 fps and no less than 30 at max load.

Aside from this, they've added the Special Ops mode. It's very cool, something like training mode. You can run various scenarios from evasion, to sniping, to rescue ops, etc. There's a good 15 or 16 different ones if I'm not mistaken each with 3 levels to go through. So, you can run through these and really work out your skills and then jump back into the game and put 'em to use. Tons of variety and playability as well as replayability. They've also alllowed you to breach previously unbreachable walls/obstacels w/explosives giving it a much more open feel.

Great game. I'm normally done with a game like this and just going back and upping the difficulty. But, I am around 8% on the story mode and 20% on the spec ops missions. And then, if you wanted, you can even run these in split screen or via internet with a friend. I love the depth of content and replayability or I guess just playability since I haven't finished anything yet to "replay".

    1000% satisfied. I'd buy it again! ;)

    COD Modern Warfare 2 PS3

Borrowing themes from American invasion epic Red Dawn and TV series like 24, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 attempts to capture the insanity and life-and-death situations of real-life combat. Once again you hop between several engaging story arcs as you globe-trot on missions to stop a war and ultimately bring a madman to justice.

Right from the outset, MW2 fixes one of the issues some people had with the original game's story -- instead of setting the action in a fictional Middle Eastern country, the game opens up at a firebase in war torn Afghanistan. Though pixel counters would say otherwise, this game still looks amazing in action. Whether sprinting down cramped alleyways or racing down the side of a frozen mountainside MW2 moves at a frenetic pace that rarely stutters.

Click the image above to check out all Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 screens.

The original Modern Warfare dealt with themes of life, death, action and consequences. The sequel goes after these concepts in a manner rare for the video game world; it treats its audience like an adult. Footage of a particular sequence involving the death of innocent civilians (which I won't spoil here) leaked online before launch and caused a preemptive uproar from misinformed pontificators. Hopefully this signals a step forward for the "videogame as art" debate, a move from electronic toy to a true multimedia device for conveying adult stories to adults. While the rest of the story is certainly entertaining and contains plenty of jaw dropping moments, it's unfortunate that it never really matches the emotional zenith of that moment.

Though the set-pieces are new and bigger than ever MW2 doesn't radically change the solid Call of Duty formula. Infinity Ward is one of the very best at creating a polished, guided-shooter experience. If you follow the game's prescribed path, the action unfolds like a well-timed performance. However, if you're a curious player like me who likes to "peak behind the curtain," the game punishes you quickly and severely. For example, move too far ahead of your squad and a phantom sniper will take you out with a single shot. I know these criticisms aren't new to the series, but whereas many games reward exploration and initiative it seems a little backward to force you down such a rigid path. But MW2 does finally retire the perpetual enemy spawn machines of its forebears.

Adding two- or four-player co-op to the campaign would have seemed like a no-brainer, but rather than potentially break the scripted campaign experience MW2 includes a new two-player co-op mode called Spec-Ops instead. You and a buddy can battle through a series of bite-sized challenges; borrowing scenarios and locations from the single-player story, each mission has you and a partner completing tasks together (like surviving an enemy onslaught in a shopping center or racing against one another in snowmobiles). Spec-Ops is more than the usual "battle against waves of enemies" but not quite a full, stand-alone story. Instead, it sits in a middle space that's surprisingly fun and engaging.

Though still a blast, the single-player campaign isn't the reason thousands of people still play the original MW on a daily basis. Create-a-class, new perks, and fresh customization options add an element seemingly more at home with a MMORPG than a console shooter. All the offerings from the first game have been expanded exponentially for the sequel -- you can now choose from over a dozen kill streaks th

Awesome game, YOU CAN NEVER GET BORED OF THIS GAME!!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Modern Warfare 2 is by far the least traditional of the series, with the core package broken up into three main pillars of gameplay. Single-player fans have their main campaign, if you're down for more co-op gameplay either locally or via online connection you've got the new Spec Ops mode, and Modern Warfare's groundbreaking multiplayer is back, and truly better than ever. There's an overwhelming amount of content to experience, but with each mode being 100% standalone in nature, you're getting three completely different experiences all in one. That, however, also plays a huge factor into how your final opinion of Modern Warfare 2 as a whole turns out.

First and foremost is the single-player experience. As the anchor of the Call of Duty world, campaign mode is back, and it's intense. You'll instantly get a sense of just how far the improved engine has come when you're thrown into the bustling streets of Rio de Janeiro's favela, the ice-capped mountains of Russia, the dusty roads of Afghanistan, and other unexpected locales. On the visual side of things, Modern Warfare 2 is an obvious step up over Call of Duty 4 and World at War, with a stronger emphasis on complex terrain in the environments, weather effects, destructible objects, and the overall sense of action and chaos that comes with so many visual improvements. This is only complemented further by the increased attention to sound design, with the effects of many returning weapons being re-recorded,even more in-level chatter amongst your allies, and a truly captivating score by Hans Zimmer which builds based on specific in-game moments. Modern Warfare 2 feels like an action movie through and through, with the production values alone dating Infinity Ward's last game, Call of Duty 4, quite a bit.

At the same time, the single-player campaign has its issues. For starters, it's short. I've been playing Call of Duty 4 steadily since its release, and my first completion of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign came in at just under five hours on regular difficulty. Playing through on hardened will add another hour and a half onto that. Modern Warfare 2 is definitely more chaotic this time around – partially due to the new visual effects and upped production values – and with the improved enemy AI and tough scenario design you'll be fighting for every checkpoint. One of the larger visual changes to the game's heads-up display this time around is the blood splatter system. In previous Call of Duty offerings you'd get damaged, the screen would start to shade red, and you'd be required to seek cover before your vision returned to normal. Modern Warfare 2 employs a new system, actually having a thicker blood layer added to up the realism. There's been some discussion on whether the splatter is too distracting, and in my experience with the game it's far from an issue. You'll be able to take more hits on easier difficulty settings, so while a few well-placed shots will drop players on hardened or veteran modes the added splatter is an acceptable trade-off for more overall health

Campaign's story might be a little farfetched and slightly cramped, but there's no denying the spectacle of it all. Modern Warfare 2 will blow you away.
Thankfully many of the glaring issues from last time around have been fixed. You won't find unlimited enemy spawns in areas, there's always a waypoint icon on-screen showing you where to go or who to follow, and the amount of in-game chatter from your team is simply astoundi
