Great straightening iron

I bought this for my daughter, she loves it. It straightens her hair better than any other I have bought her in the past. It heats very quickly and has an automatic shut-off. The plates are only one inch, but it straightens so well you do not have to go over the same section more than once, like with other irons. When this one goes out, I won't waste my time with the cheaper irons again, I'll be buying a CHI again.

Good Knockoff

I bought this product because my previous CHI Straightener had just broke. When I bought it ($45) I was under the impression that it was a authentic product. When it arrived, I immediately discovered that it was not from the lack of serial number and other differences. However, it is not a bad product. The cord is much shorter than an authentic CHI, but it is still a good length. The heat is not as high as the CHI, nor does it stay the same temperature after straightening a few sections of hair. That means you cannot straighten your hair as quickly because you have to take 10 or so second breaks between straightening sections of hair so that the plates can reach their maximum heat again. However, this is just an annoyance, the hair straightener is still one of the best I've had, aside from my authentic CHI of course. Because authentic CHI's promise that their plates are made of a specific ceramic formula that protects hair better than any other plates, I feel as if this CHI might not be as healthy for my hair. Aside from these minor details, the product is a good investment. However, for me, I had to pay a little too much for a knockoff.

Best flat iron out there!

I already have one of these and LOVE it. Bought this as a gift for my sister-in-law. This flat iron heats in seconds, leaves hair feeling healthy (not burned or crispy-looking). I use it in conjunction with a shine serum and my annoyingly wavy hair actually looks smooth and straight like those ladies in hair commercials! Can't recommend this highly enough - definitely worth the money.

Beware of counterfeit CHIs - genuine CHI GF1001 irons are NEVER Made in USA

The real CHI GF1001 is a great iron. However, most of the ones sold online are COUNTERFEIT! I thought I could save some money by buying on ebay, but eventually had to return the iron, which was counterfeit and did not work well and was definitely not as hot as my genuine CHI. I spoke to a CHI company representative and found out that the CHI GF1001 IS NEVER MADE IN THE USA!! If it says "Made in the USA" on the iron itself and it's the GF1001, then it's counterfeit! The warning signs that I saw right away were 1)a shorter plug cord (approximately 7 feet instead of 9) and 2)a black shiny color instead of a charcoal color. I called the company rep. after it took me double time to do my hair, and I found out that this model is only produced internationally. I ended up purchasing a Babyliss since I was sick of wasting my time with all the counterfeit CHIs online (If you want a real one, go into a store - my old CHI worked very well until it died of old age.)

Mediocre straightener...Not as good as others say.

Overall my experience was okay. The CHI took a long time to straighten my hair. I had to go over the same length of hair over and over until it was completely straight. I expected the CHI to be easier and faster, but it was the same as any other flat iron.
