| Synopsis | |
| His vision changed our world. But in this monumental work Bill Gates argues that the capabilities of computers, software, and networks are only beginning to be harnessedand that your company must start building a modern, digital nervous system now in order to compete quickly and intuitively in the new millennium. Here, one of the worlds most successful, strategically-thinking CEOs explains how to turn your hardware and software into a powerful, evolving network of information by looking at the digital systems in place at Microsoft and other leading corporations. In his new book, Microsoft chairman and CEO Bill Gates discusses how technology can help run businesses better today and how it will transform the nature of business in the near future. Gates stresses the need for managers to view technology not as overhead but as a strategic asset, and offers detailed examples from Microsoft, GM, Dell, and many other successful companies. I am not one of the bigest Gates' fans, I prefer more Dell, McNeally or the guys from GOOGLE (especially), or Meg Whitman :), but Gates also has his merits in the industry, even if not so big as he may think!
I think his book can be rated 3 ways:
1. EXCELLENT - by the beginers in "digital world", people that have heard a little bit about it.
2. GOOD - by people who have medium knowledge about e-commerce.
3. AVERAGE - by people they know a lot about E-BUSINESS and even use it! For them, the book doesn´t bring so many new ideas.
For people that have read Alvin Toffler, years before, and also know well to use Internet and computers, Gate's book brings almost no surprise...
What I thnik that are very good are the EXAMPLES he gives about different companies how they implemented the IT & C solutions...
Anyway, I've rated it GOOD, because I really appreciate CEO's who even that are so busy managing huge international corporations, also have time to write a book, or even more...:)
I would be very curious to read a book written by Meg Whitman or Page from Google...Did they write books, also? :)
