Compressor/Sustain Guitar Effect Pedal
Created: 07/19/10
A basic effect pedal, the Boss CS-3 is built rugged and promises to deliver every distinctive note from your guitar. Looking to experience what I've heard about it, I connected the Boss CS-3 to my guitar and amplifier following directions from the manufacturer. Once I got used to experimenting with the controls, I was really amazed at the improvement in the sound of the music. I'm sure everyone can find a certain way of setting the CS-3 controls to suit their taste of sound in every music genre. I love the CS-3 because it allows me to be much more creative with the other effect pedals connected after it. In addition, I decided to buy this brand because of the reputation of the manufacturer.

I find this pedal very usefull AND I JUST MODED IT SO ITS LESS noisey,A noise gate should take care of it(another pedal). but it does sustain well and sound's good doing it. Not bad for the $50.00 I paid for it, would I buy another? yes I would. my lead's sound's better and the chord's ring with even sound. BUT I ONLY USE IT TO GET MY GARY MOORE STILL GOT THE BLUES LEADS

I bought this pedal for the sustain mostly. It's great for any solid body electric guitar. I use a Gibson SG special with two DiMarzio injector single coil pickups. The attack knob is very subtle and the sustain knob makes that hissing noise when cranked too high, but it's not noticeable at the setting I have. I recommend to set the tone as close as you can to your amp's tone and set the level just a bit higher than your amp when the pedal is turned off. It's great for beefing up your distortion and overdrive and it balances out notes so the volume comes out even. I love it. I think every guitarist should have one. Some people suggest to get a noise gate with this, but I don't think it's necessary. It's a great pedal at a great price. If you're not satisfied with it stock, then there are many places online to modify it. All the mods are great and, combined with the price of the pedal, are still cheaper than pricier compressors.

Best Compressor On The Market!

There's only a few Compressor pedals that are pedalboard worthy. The "Mr. Squishy" by Toadworks, the older Arion, and of coarse the Boss CS-3. I've owned probably 15 of these and not 1 has ever failed me. Great Compressor!

I Like Boss products for their quality and durability. I recently purchased several of their effects pedals, both new and used, and have not been disappointed with their performance. I have also purchased several accessories for the pedals, all Boss products as well, and have been very pleased. Boss is a company that has earned it's reputation on the world stage.
