The RIM BlackBerry 8700c benefits from an Intel processor and EDGE support, as well as a bright display, a full QWERTY keyboard, and a slim design.
To our disappointment, the RIM BlackBerry 8700c uses a proprietary instant-messaging client, and Bluetooth is limited to use with headsets and car kits.
Armed with an Intel processor and EDGE support, the RIM BlackBerry 8700c offers mobile professionals a winning package of performance, productivity, and design.

If you want the basic functionality of the Blackberry model of phone, then this is probably a safe bet. It lacks the newer trackball that I personally find quite useful, however all the basic programs are there. It's still quite capable of being a personal assistant, without all the "newfangled" bells and whistles of the modern day phone. The 8700 was released November 1, 2005.
BlackBerry 8700c features include:
Dynamic, highly responsive experience when viewing attachments and graphics, browsing the web and running applications
Access up to 10 supported business and/or personal email accounts
Integrated attachment viewing for popular file formats
MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) allows you to combine text and images on a single message
Bright, high-resolution screen provides large viewable workspace and includes intelligent light sensing technology to automatically optimize screen lighting levels for ideal indoor and outdoor viewing
Built-in speakerphone for hands-free dialog and convenient conference calls with excellent sound quality
Bluetooth® hands-free headset and car kit support
Polyphonic and MP3 ring tones can be assigned to your contacts
Ergonomic, full QWERTY keyboard for a familiar typing and data entry experience
Large, dedicated “Send”, “End” and “Mute” keys, plus user definable convenience keys.
64 MB of memory
Intel® PXA901 processor at 312 MHz
Quad-Band network support on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS and EDGE networks allows for international roaming between North America, Europe and Asia Pacific
All in all, a safe bet for anyone who wants a basic Blackberry model.
I bought this item as gift for my sister-in-law at a very affordable cost. She was incredibly amazed with its features which included: Java Enabled, MMS Enabled, Polyphonic Ringtones, Color Screen, Bluetooth Enabled, Calendar, Email Access, Internet Browser, MP3 Player, PDA-PC Sync, Text Messaging, QWERTY Keyboard, Push to Talk, Speakerphone, USB Interface. She just inserted her sim card and started making calls!!
She was also thrilled with the deep blue colour of the phone. I was very glad she loved it.
I would recommend this item to others.
First Impression : The device seems heavy and large, it is indeed nevertheless large, but is not heavy for as much. One realizes very quickly that it will not be easy to break the device and that the keys of the keyboard are designed for a really easy and comfortable use. The screen is also of very good invoice and make it possible to easily use all the functions of this Blackberry. On the Box : I had a very good reaction while opening box it because obviously the Blackberry 8703e is found, a cable USB, a charger USB, ear-phones and a support for the belt. But what is interesting in my opinion is the documentation provided by Bell and Research In Motion. The provided documents are obviously in French and English (even if still several manufacturers respect not this Québécois law), but are color and extremely detailed. As regards the quality of French, one can say cheer to Bell and Research In Motion, because it would be believed that it is really a French-speaking person who wrote the documents. The guide provided starting is more than one simple layer which one can often find with the cellular ones. It is a very interesting tool if you never used a Blackberry and that you do not want to read 100 pages on a document PDF which is provided on a CD-Rom per many manufacturers. Operator : Bell mobility, with which often has attribute a bad mark, succeeded very well with this device. Its network is very pleasant to use with this device even in a corner in the countryside. The data transfer at a completely acceptable speed. You can also use this machine as modem with your portable computer. You will use is Bluetooth or the cable USB, they is nevertheless expensive (and it is similar everywhere), but that can render great service to you if you need really an access Internet. Navigation with this means is obviously not very fast, but the device transfers very well the data on network CDMA of Bell mobility. The Design : The design of this device is nevertheless normal, but it is held very well in the hand. You will have to be accustomed to navigation with the scroll on the side if you never used a Blackberry, but after one or two days it is already very easy to use. One regrets the absence of key of standard direction (high, low, right and left) in addition to the scroll, but as soon as you can use this scroll well it is extremely easy. Two keys are programmable on the sides to start a program quickly. As we mentioned above, this device is extremely solid. The keys are very easy to use even if you have large fingers. Performances : Side performance the device forever has shown the least fall of output. All the programs provided on the device function perfectly. No apparent sign of problem with the software of email and navigation Internet. The Screen : The screen is also very solid and will not break with the first blow. The scratches also seem to be relatively not very probable. The screen included in the Blackberry is a screen ACL of 65000 colors. The size is 320 by 240 pixels and the screen is photosensitive while being adjusted with the ambient luminosity, which is very practical to save the energy of your battery and thus to prolong the autonomy of the device. The Keyboard : The keyboard is used very easily and is pleasant to use. The keys are designed a little oddly, but this way one avoids hanging of other touches device and thus loses much time. Several keys outrage the alphabetical keys such as a key for the capital letters; a key ALT wh

I originally liked the the look of it because it was bigger and had the full key board so it would be easier to text my son. im 39 so im older and not one of these teenagers. after i got it i soon found out it worked fantastic it picks up a signal every where even on the back roads where no other phones will work where we live even in the grocery stores, my mother of 61 freaked out when i was talking to her one day when she found out i was in the grocery store because she could never call anyone from the store and she has never texted anyone. she liked mine so well that when i let her look on her look on ebay she saw the pink one she fell in love with it so surprisingly i ordered her one to so i bought another one and she loves hers as well and we text all the time she even texts my son and her 9 year old grandson so it was well worth the money i spent on both and i got them at a great price. i would recommend them to anyone.
