Review For: Beverly Hills Chihuahua (DVD, 2009)
This 91 minute film tells about a pampered Beverly Hills chihuahua named Chloe (voiced by Drew Barrymore) who, while on vacation in Mexico with her owner Viv's (Jamie Lee Curtis) niece, Rachel (Piper Perabo), gets lost and must rely on her friends to help her get back home before she is caught by a dognapper who wants to ransom her.
In the meantime, Papi (voiced by George Lopez), a male chihuahua who is in love with her is in pursuit of her. Papi's master (Manolo Cardona), a handsome young gardener for Viv, slowly develops a romantic interest in Rachel.
Chloe befriends a lonely German Shepherd (voiced by Andy Garcia) who travels with her to protect her from the evil Doberman (voiced by Edward James Olmos) who wants to return her and her diamond collar to the dognapper.
As a dog lover, I loved this movie. Ever since I fell in love with the Taco Bell dog, I wanted a movie filled with chihuahuas. The flow of this movie was free and easy and had many valiant and noble gestures of kindness embedded throughout the movie. The children loved this movie and kept them on the edge of their sets. The desert canyon scene was one of my favorites and is very unforgettable.
Don't miss this family movie for any reason. The dog chatter was more believable and sincere than the human script! hah. See you in the funny papers!

Review For: Beverly Hills Chihuahua (DVD, 2009)
This is an adorable family-suitable movie that immediately draws the viewer in - with the rich animal characters, as well as the humans who care for them. As an owner of three chihuahuas, I was immediately captured and drawn into the adventure of a very spoiled chihuahua and her irresponsible dog-sitter. The actual "stealer" of the show was the landscaper's dog, Papi, voiced by George Lopez. Dru Barrymore is the voice of "Cloe", the super-spoiled, but sweet, star of the show. I highly recommend this movie to all animal lovers. It is fun and poignant. There are "jail" scenes that are highly reminiscent of "The Lady and the Tramp". The inmates are hilarious!

Fun family humor, appropriate for all...

Most children's movies have some adult humor to keep parents entertained too. This is no different, but still appropriate for all ages. You just can't beat talking animals, and the line up of celebrity voices totally makes the characters fun and personable.
The human love story is weak, as were the characters. The gardener is a hot Latino and should have been given a little deeper or more layered personality. There are so many female leads that would have been a better choice and several times wondered why Piper Perabo took the lead. Jamie-Lee Curtis is perfect in her role as the doting "mommy" and her character had the most vibrant personality and was used to the advantage of the story. More of her would have been even better and enhanced the human aspect. However, understanding that the humans are secondary to the "plot" you just have to roll with it.
Overall, one of the better non-Disney children's films to arrive on the scene and a film to be watched over and over with the kids.

We loved the movie the first time we saw it in the Theater. We wanted to buy the DVD for our home collection of favorite pet movies. This one comes in Full Screen or Wide Screen to fit any TV you have. Story is funny and it has a good ending with a message about pet adoption. This is one of Disney's best movies so far! Rated G for all age groups. Colorful adventure and hilarious comedy.

Is a movie with an adorable story of two dogs that go through an adventure and fall in love, Modern version on Lady and the tramp but with a human and fashionable touch I may add. It is comical! It is sweet and funny and charming, very entertaining, there is some action and in the end you will be pleased with this dog comedy, George Lopez and Drew Barrymore did a GREAT JOB!....I dont know who wouldn't like this.
