Movie synopsis
Lane Myer's (John Cusack) dreams are shattered when his girlfriend Beth (Amanda Wyss) decides she prefers the company of a sleazy ski jock over his own. This disheartening news leads Lane to attempt to take his own life in various ways--all of which never seem to work out. But if he can beat Beth's new boyfriend in a ski run down the treacherous K-12, he may be able to win her back. Along the way, Lane also encounters a beautiful French exchange student, a nasal spray-snorting neighbor, a rabid newspaper boy, and dancing hamburgers. "Savage" Steve Holland (ONE CRAZY SUMMER) directs this 1985 cult favorite.

Review For: Better Off Dead (VHS, 1997)

Great 80s movie right up there with "Farris Bueller's Day Off" .Lane Meyer. Can't seem to get a break, until he faces his greatest fear of sking the K12 Against Stalin!(With a little help from the-Knock out Little-French forein exchange student-living with Ricky (Doorkheads) across the street). And who could forget Lane's mother's Cooking-It's to die for...LOL!!! Great movie I would recomend to all ages. And an Awsome sound track-David Lee Roth and Eddie VanHalen,Jam!! "Everybody wants some"!!This movie was fantastic when it came out,and just seems to be getting better with age.timless.Like a fine wine. Many Great romantic songs also.I have always, realy liked this movie....And,by the way,I WANT MY 2 DALLARS!!!!!

Misfit family w/many sight-gags. A young Cusack seems to be almost normal

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

An strangely off-beat, sight-gag filled movie about a family of misfits. This one needs to be carefully watched. On the surface the family seems fairly normal. Oddly enough, John Cusack is the most normal member of the family.

During dinner, for example, there are some sight-gags that seem to have no real purpose at all. They are never mentioned nor acknowledged in any way. The story is twisted enough to be worth watching, maybe even a couple of times if you enjoy a bit of weirdness.

Review For: Better Off Dead (VHS, 1997)

Better off dead is one of the funniest movies ever. I like to watch movies I love with my kids, and sometimes they just don't laugh enough, like its just not as funny as I remembered. This movie made them laugh with me & thats just awesome.

Great Movie for young adults

Review For: Better Off Dead (VHS, 1997)

Great fun to watch and very funny, enjoyable for the whole family especially with teenagers. The story is one we can all relate to when we were in High School. It shows how our emotions can get in the way of falling in love. It shows that we do have friends and if people who are really caring they will stick with you.

Better Off Dead

Review For: Better Off Dead (VHS, 1997)

I looked everywhere for this movie. It was a present for my husband on Father's day.It was actually the one thing he requested and ebay was the only place I could find it.It was very reasonably priced. It is a classic 80's movie and my husband never gets tired of watching it.It is a guy's movie, but true love wins out in the end.
