Updated to reflect what the smart people were saying about salt and fat around then, this book will be the one you use most often, no matter how many other ritzy titles you have on the cookbook shelf. The basic recipes you need for getting through the day are here, as are some common-sense directions on how to feed people who can actually eat with utensils, although perhaps not the right ones. Lest you worry about whether you can feed the kids from this, it also includes great directions for keeping them full and healthy. REPLACE your old copy with this and later editions. You'll look smarter and stay skinnier.
I have had this book in my kitchen for as long as I have been cooking 30+ years and refer to it often. I love that you can take pages out from the binder and take them with you, like to the store. When a friend recently moved out of her parent's home into her own apartment, she told me that she goes out to eat a lot due to her lack of basic cooking knowledge and skills. I thought this book would make a perfect housewarming gift. It shows all the basics, how to stock your kitchen, how to boil an egg, etc. I noticed that in this particular one it shows how to choose ripe fruits and vegetables. How great is that?! I wish I had that in my first cookbook. It is a must have for any new cook.
I bought this Better Homes and Garden New Cookbook as a gift for my brother who loves to cook. The sectional tabs make it easy to find recipes, along w/preparation tips for the various meats and vegetables. This is a must have primary cook book, especially for the novice.
I have enjoyed my Better Homes and Garden New Cook Book that I have had like forever, infact, I need to replace it. My stepson and stepdaughter are just learning how to cook and I will be getting one for each of them as well.
I love Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Books. I have one from the 1950's, I decided I needed to update my cookbook. This is a great book!
THIS LOOSE LEAF STYLE BOOK, WITH EASY WIPE CLEANING COVER, IS A PERFECT FILE FOR PERSONAL ADDITIONS AND MANY INCLUDED TECHNIQUES! ONE IS NEVER ENOUGH!
