"Because of Winn-Dixie" is a warm-hearted movie the whole family will love.
It's the story of a lonely young girl who moves to a small town with her
preacher dad. Since her mother left when she was a toddler, she finds herself
virtually alone except for her father, and also friendless until a big and big-hearted dog comes along and changes not only her life but also the lives of everyone he meets.
This is truly a funny, touching, and heart-warmng movie that everyone will enjoy. Best of all, it's free of the filth, violence, and innuendo that saturates most of today's entertainment, so, parents, watch it with your children. Single adults will like it too.
I highly rcommend it.
An inseparable bond develops between a lonely 10-year-old girl and an orphaned dog, Winn-Dixie -- named for the supermarket where she found him, who helps her make friends in a small Florida town. The pup not only unites the townspeople -- it also helps the girl heal her own troubled relationship with her father.
I really enjoyed this movie, I will definitely add this to my collection eventually. The story starts out with a Preacher's daughter named Opal who has just moved to another new town. She didn't have any friends until she met an orphaned dog at the Winn-Dixie supermarket (which is why she named the dog Winn-Dixie), and she took him home with her. Winn-Dixie helped her make friends with some of the townspeople. Among them a librarian, a pet store worker, a blind woman, and a few other people. I won't give away the ending for those who haven't seen it yet, but it is a brilliant movie. Not just for the kids, but the adults will love it too.
My granddaughter brought this movie over to watch with me. I fell in love with it and decided to get my own copy for home. This is a very heartwarming story about how a lonely little girl, Opal, and an adorable mutt find each other. Named Winn Dixie because of being found at the grocery store with that name, Winn Dixie leads Opal to other lonely people that are also wanting friendship and at the end brings them all together. Just love the story line and the acting in this movie.
THIS IS A CUTE FILM BUT IT IS EXACTALLY WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT! A FILM ABOUT AN ODD LITTLE GIRL WHO MEETS A SMILING DOG IN WINN-DIXIE AND TAKES IT HOME AND OF COURSE THE DOG WILL CHANGE HER LIFE. IT IS A SWEET FILM BUT IT DOES LINGER ON FOR A WHILE AND OF COURSE ITS SAD. IT IS JUST LIKE MY DOG SKIP EXCEPT MY DOG SKIP WAS ALOT BETTER IN MY OPINION! THE LITTLE GIRL IN THE FILM MEETS ALOT OF NEW FOLKS AND LEARNS DIFFERENT THINGS ABOUT ALL THESE CHARACTERS WHILE ALSO TRYING TO LEARN ABOUT HER OWN MOTHER WHO APPARENTLY LEFT HER AND HER PREACHER DAD WHEN SHE WAS A BABY, AND FOR SOME STRANGE REASON THE PREACHER DOES NOT WANT TO DISCUSS HER MOM WITH HER AT ALL! AND THE PREACHER DID NOT WANT WINN-DIXIE TO START WITH EITHER. THE PREACHER AS SHE CALLS HIM IS A VERY STRANGE CHARACTER HIMSELF! BUT IT IS A GOOD FILM FOR THE FAMILY BUT NOTHING REALLY SPECTACULAR HERE! SO DONT GET YOUR HOPES UP!
