Global award winning in every category. You will not be disappointed. If you like strategy, the ability to go anywhere, use all kinds of equipment with no limitation, from vehicles to aircraft, boats and more then this is for you. Team play at its finest or go solo and wreak havoc. A ton of map styles for whatever your style of gameplay and desires. A ton of game modes as well to always have something to keep you challenged. Dedicated custom servers as well both on PS3, PC and XBOX unlike forced auto-match in many other newest games out there. You create your own rules. It does also have Quick Match (auto-match) if you don't want to find a custom server or get your own. The Battlefield and Medal Of Honor series alike since the 90's have been global award winners focused on not high numbers in sales but quality over quantity. Pride and effort is the focus and not just something turned out fast for a quick buck like the COD franchise has now become. (In fact, the first COD and COD United Offensive had some of the same developers as Medal Of Honor and Battlefield and won a ton of awards too.) If you like to out smart your enemy, have the ability to use whatever you want go where ever you want, this is for you. Endless options for success the game is quite detailed not to mention the Battlelog online stats site for every platform to keep track of everything in real time. There IS nothing like this game.
Ok, I gunned half through a few hours of single player simply for the trophies and then dropped it for a few hours into the MP end of stuff. This is an early rummage of thoughts to give some people on the fence an idea of what they are getting into. Even most of the PC reviews out there have been pretty vague. I haven't cleared this 100% for the Platinum or put in 100 hours of ranking. But I have been playing Battlefield games for awhile so some early thoughts after a few hours.
First off -- 200+ meg update before you can play then you're off to the races. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was similar to Crysis, in that you could navigate the landscape the way you wanted, within an admittedly small area. Wooden huts and hideouts were for the destroying if you were so inclined. In Battlefield 3, you are literally led by the nose with little blue and red boxes on EXACTLY what to do. It's pretty insulting. Walk one foot too far this way or that way, and you are immediately told to "RETURN TO THE BATTLEFIELD." The levels are much more confined than the last game, but I think they went way too far on the scripted confrontations. On the realism end, there is a a few instances where a Marine will drop dead right in front of you and the other soldiers will just walk right by. Pretty lame, Marines don't tend to do that sort of thing. So the story sucks, but nobody reads Playboy for the articles right? Character models are not the strong point here. Where in CoD, everything looks like shiny plaster, here they look like clay . The environment textures look good most of the time, but occasionally do load slowly. Also, first thing I would do, is jack up the controller sensitivity, the default setting is way too slow. So far, I see a real missed opportunity in the single player end. I don't know why they just don't take the large maps from multiplayer and come up with a story based task for the single player. Corridor shooting needs to finally die. Anyway, the campaign doesn't do much new thus far, but there are good points. The audio is absolutely stunning. On my surround sound, the bullet hits and muzzle sounds are really awesome.
But playing Battlefield by yourself is like buying a banana just to eat the peels.
In one word...AMAZING!! If you are a fan of the Battlefield series or any first person shooter this game is a must have! Destroys any other first person shooter I have ever played. The maps are HUGE and graphics and sounds are the real deal. Plus unlike COD there is never any dropped games. The new server rooms are a great addition letting you select region and game mode, kind of like old Socom. From the first moment I played this game I knew it was THE BEST! Lots of new vehicles and aircraft (jets) :) Campaign is good but really the only reason I play BF is for their online madness! Definitely the best game of the year!
This game will single handedly end Call of Duty. The maps are amazing and u get 13 maps on the release date. That is unheard of. You would have to buy Call of Duty 59.99 and one map pack 15.00 to equal up the the maps that battlefield 3 gives u for free. The gameplay is outstanding. Everything about this game will definitely put this game as the game of the year. Real war Real fighting Real everything. For all those campers in building forget it. I shot two rockets up in the building and floored three people at the same time blowing the building half to pieces. I love it
Great game
i enjoy going around exploring the huge maps with friends and people.not as many campers as i thought there would be. this game is more for adults not for 7 year old's who shouldn't have gotten rated m 17 years and over games in the first place -__-
team based no going rambo or you'll get spotted by all the enemies and get shot/bombed/rpgd/run over/.battlefield also improves each time they make a new game something is always new.you get your moneys worth the story does seem a bit short but since this game is intended for online gameplay it makes sense that they focus more on that also it has won many awards for its inovations
