| EA DICE's flagship military combat series continues with Battlefield 3, a first-person shooter with destructible environments, large-scale maps, controllable vehicles, and online support for up to 24 simultaneous players. The single-player campaign, which the publisher estimates to be 12 hours in length, features multiple playable characters in a structure similar to Activision's Call of Duty franchise. In a storyline set in 2014, you'll play as a Russian agent sent to stop a terrorist attack in Paris, a Marine corporal in the Tehran desert, and as others in missions set in Sarajevo, New York, Wake Island, Oman, and Sulaymaniyah. The Frostbite physics engine introduced in the Battlefield: Bad Company spin-off series has been enhanced, now allowing for the complete destruction of buildings and scenery objects as well as vision blurring or blinding effects. Soldiers can also shoot from the prone position. The multiplayer game features a choice of team-based options. Conquest has your side trying to claim and hold different areas of the battlefield, while rush involves one team trying to quickly advance across a map as the other team defends. Team deathmatch is also included, and there are four available classes in the game: assault, support, recon, and engineer. Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 titles are designed to run at 30 frames per second at 720p resolution. The Limited Edition version of Battlefield 3 is available to all consumers who pre-order the game from retailers before its official release date. The Limited Edition adds the "Back to Karkand" expansion at no extra cost. This add-on includes four multiplayer maps from the original Battlefield 2, each with updated visuals and destructible elements. The maps are among the most played environments in the series to date and include Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman, and Sharqi Peninsula. Also available are classic weapons and vehicles from Battlefield 2 as well as new trophies to unlock. | |

Limited Edition is the way to go because you get a set of dog tags, a gun, and the map back to karkand which you would have to pay for if you did not get limited edition. The game play itself is very fun and some map have vehicles you can drive or fly with close quarters maps to wide open maps. It serves perfect game play for every gamer from foot soldier to sniper type players. Can't rambo it too much in this game expect to actually work as a team to win against good opponents. I like how when you flank an enemy and hold the knife button you grab them and take their dog tags as a souvenir. It's way better then call of duty where its all about who sees who 1st and no actual battle tactics. You gotta check it out for yourself, it's worth the $.
This is totally best Battlefield so far yet, way better than second one.... and graphics... motion engine is marvelous.... it even better than recent modern warfare 3
nice Story mode with all kind vehicles and aircrafts.... i like story mode more than online.
starting from this one there is online pass, so if you bought used one make sure to get pass unused otherwise you gonna need to buy pass from online store or other places...
online mode is neat a lot improvements than it was in battlefield 2..
overall Best game in 2011.
Story 9.9 out of 10.0
online 9.5 out of 10.0
Over all: 10.0 out of 10.0 For FPS 2011
Must Buy
Battlefield 3 by DICE has become an online network trend in late 2011 and going into 2012. You have a choice to load out as a medic, recon, support, or an engineer, depending on your preference or what is required by the situation. The console versions sports up to 32 players online, while the PC version is up to 64. The less numbers in console mode is not a hindrance, since there have been tweaks to game modes and play areas to account for the lesser numbers. There is an awesome online resource called battlelog.battlefield.com for looking up in depth stats on your network account. From here you can review statistics, talk with friends about strategy, look at various unlock requirements, and even change your dog tags. If you knife someone in game you steal their dog tags. Nothing is sweeter than owning like a boss and nabbing some dog tags! Sound design is a 10 out of 10. Campaign is good but nothing incredible. Destructible buildings and cover is cool. Jets, tanks, vehicles, helicopters make the game insanely fun! No MW3 haters ya'll!
I bought this upon a recommendation from a friend- It was okay, but I'm more used to the clarity and visuals of the Call of Duty games and this game has a bit of a different feel. I really enjoy the effort EA put into making the maps enormous and integrating different components such as the various vehicles found within the multiplayer game. But the overall feel of the game is not quite as fluid as my experience with the Call of Duty games. I am looking forward to the next Battlefield game in the series and from what I've heard EA is addressing several of the problems that I've alluded to. At times I was spending what seemed like minutes running to where the action was because the spawn point was so far away.
I bought this game to compare to the COD series. The only downfall was the short campaign- about 9 missions long. Multiplayer is the best i've played in a very long time. Beats COD by a mile. This game takes more skill and thought than other FPS' i've played. There is no bs online. No noob tubes (for the most part), vehicles take a little getting used to, but its fun to drive around and smush people. Helicopters and jets are the hardest vehicles to control, but can be very decisive if you're good at flying them.
