Asus Eee PC 1000HD Netbook

I thought I'd like Ubuntu and maybe I will if I ever get to it but already knowing Windows XP I am simply using that and not bothering with the Ubuntu.
For the Asus Eee PC it seems functional enough. I had a hard time getting used
to the smaller keyboard especially the right shift key. I kept making typos
so went back to my Toshiba M45 Satellite and my partner is using the Asus which
she likes fine. The wifi was easy to set up. I have no complaints so if you
are looking for a small computer this is it. Just keep in mind the keyboard is
also smaller as well as the monitor. The colors are fine.

Ours is black. I'd go for another color next time.

This compact unit has a great battery life and does all the functions you would need for an on-the-go computer. We went to a restaurant and it was great to have a small PC to do word processing and web browsing. Especially compared to my partners full-sized laptop that would take up too much room at a booth or small table. Keys are smaller but are easy to get accustomed to. I had it a year and have had no problems, just opted to do a memory upgrade.

The Asus 1000HD is a nice fun to use netbook.
It is light weight and has good battery life. It's easy to use and once I got use to the keyboard I have had no problems with hitting the wrong keys.
Hitting the ""enter" instead of "shift" on the right side and the "Delete" were my biggest problems.
Also anyone with large hands might have a little problem.
What I don't like is the worthless version of XP which is installed.
It is lacking in to many ways to mention...of course I could buy the upgrades but at the cost and the fact there are better free programs,,,like open office which in my opinion works great, I can deal with the watered down version of XP. I would recommend this netbook to anyone looking for a well built perfect size netbook.!!

Not gonna do any serious computing/programs with eee pcs but for the price its well worth a good internet surfer and word-processor.

If you want a computer that was all the speed and power of a laptop without the price....this netbook is for you. A huge hard drive, great RAM, and a nice size screen. The problem I have with this netbook...one, the shift key is still in a funny place, two the touchpad will work when your typing, three finger prints show up on the netbook (This is true for the ebony color one). I you want a computer where you can work anywhere...this is for you. It has WiFi, a nice size keyboard, and three USB drives, so you can add things like a printer, mouse, or DVD drive. The sticker says the battery will last seven days...not true, especially if the WiFi is on. I have a 701 and the batter is much worse with the WiFi on...so the WiFi is not that bad but the battery will not last seven day with or without the WiFi.
