Product description
Synopsis
Compiled more than two thousand years ago by a mysterious warrior-philosopher,The Art of Waris still perhaps the most prestigious and influential book of strategy in the world today, as eagerly studied in Asia by modern politicians and executives as it as been by military leaders since ancient times. As a study of the anatomy of organizations in conflict,The Art of Warapplies to competition and conflict in general, on every level from the interpersonal to the international. Its aim is invincibility, victory without battle, and unassailable strength through understanding of the physics, politics, and psychology of conflict. This translation presents the classic from the point of view of its background in the great spiritual tradition of Taoism, the origin of psychology, science, and technology in East Asia and the source of the insights into human nature that underlie this most revered of handbooks for success. Translated from a standard collection of commentaries on Sun Tzu's text by eleven interpreters, the work has been edited by Thomas Cleary to bring out the meaning of the principles of strategy. In addition, the translator provides an extensive introduction discussing the content and background of the book.

Reviews
"Thomas Cleary's translation of Sun Tzu's 2,000-year-oldThe Art of Warmakes immediately relevant one of the greatest Chinese classical texts. There's not a dated maxim or vague prescription in it. 'To win without fighting is best,' Sun Tzu said. For him, war was coeval with life. Absorb this book, and you can throw out all those contemporary books about management leadership."-Newsweek

A True Necessity.

Review For: The Art of War by Sun Tzu (1991, Paperback, Abridged)

I love this pocket version of "The Art Of War". It is a convenient way to bring the ideology of Sun Tzu with you wherever you go.

What person can deal with life and all that it brings (especially in the business world) without an understanding of this book and the mind that created it. It is a clear and precise understanding of the business world and all the mechanics of life you may encounter.

If you Love "The Art Of War" and utilize it's resources in your daily life as I do you should not pass up on this little treasure.

ART OF WAR

Review For: The Art of War by Sun Tzu (1991, Paperback, Abridged)

I really enjoy this book because for one thing it's pocket size and is the best reference on tactics. I bought this book about 10 years ago and gave it away to a friend, to share this knowledge. I recently found it again on e-bay and had to buy two of them. One for myself and one for my buddy deployed in Iraq.

Hard read but gets its point across.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Not written where you can read it seamlessly. It is a jumble of paragraphs on each subject covered. It goes into a subject and then lists all the different peoples interpretations of it. I guess i got the jist of each chapter but it was a clunky read and I find it hard to recommend.
