Movie synopsis
An all-star television adaptation of the Jules Verne novel, set in the late 19th Century. An Englishman named Phileas Fogg makes a bet that, using all the modern forms of transportation, he can travel around the world in 80 days. He and his sidekick begin their voyage in a hot-air balloon, and make their way through Europe and on to India, where they save a widow from committing suttee (killing herself in her husband's funeral pyre). Then they travel by train in America and by ship across the Pacific. Phileas and his companion finally complete the loop, but he believes they have arrived just a little too late to win their bet.

A Real Treat Suiteable For Everyone

First of all, I tried to video tape this version when it first aired on television a number of years ago. Someone else taped that last episode for me and the tape ran out just 10 minutes before the end, so I never learned how they wrapped it up. I was so thrilled when I found out that it was available on dvd and just as thrilled with the ending.

PROS: Pierce Brosnan is the quintessential Phileas Fogg and Eric Idle is wonderful as the man-servant, Passepartout. Great chemisty between the two and the entire production was perfectly cast.

Very enjoyable!

CONS: Can't think of any!

If you want to see the Best version, of this Great Classic, this is it!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is what my husband and I feel is the Best of " Around the world in 80 Days" movies. We love everything about it. Pierce Brosnan is the best Mr.Phileas Foggs ever; Very stuffy and Very proper! We love how he slowly but surely warms up to be a Real human being. Lovely scenery and very realistic feeling. But still fun. Not silly like Jackie Chans version.I understand it was made for television, but the quality of it could have easily have been made for the Movies. If you want to see the Best version,of a great classic, this is it!

DVD Pierce Brosnan in Around the World in 80 Days

Fun filled adventure in a balloon.
Actually enjoyed this version over the orignal movie.
Brosnan before 007. Loved his stuffy English self. Fun entertainment.

Alot of good actors in this dvd. Watch it and enjoy as I did. Alot of travel and alot of fun. You won't be disappointed.

Fantastic!

I taped this movie on my VCR when it first came out on tv almost 20 years ago and have watched it countless times. It's very well made, is highly entertaining, and the acting is perfect. Great movie no matter your age! Fantastic version!
