    Reviews & Research

    CNET Editors' reviewExcellent

    • THE GOOD

The iPod Nano has a gorgeous, superslim design with a bright, photo-friendly screen. It is easy to operate and works seamlessly with iTunes and the iTunes Music Store, which has the world's largest selection of music. It boasts a nimble processor and system performance with no skipping, thanks to flash memory.

    • THE BAD

The iPod Nano suffers from unspectacular battery life, and though the device is durable, it scratches easily; blemishes show up more drastically on the black version. The Nano is pricey in terms of gigabytes per dollar, and its 4GB maximum capacity is not a good fit for many power users. The player skips many sought-after extra features such as FM radio and A/V-out, and it doesn't work with Camera Connector. The USB power adapter ($29) is not included.

    • THE BOTTOM LINE

Thanks to its limited capacity, the gorgeous iPod Nano isn't for everybody, but it sets the standard for MP3 players to come.

iPod Nano - Best Flash MP3 player right now & its sweet

The Apple iPod has become a status symbol and its own pop culture icon. The newest induction to the iPod family is the flash memory based Nano. This small, thin, and fun MP3 player is a great addition for the person who doesn’t need an extremely large song base with them, or the gadget freak who wants to grab some music to go in his/her shirt pocket.

Below is a list of pros and cons of this player

    Nano’s Positives:
-This is a must have accessory, plus it is a decent MP3 player.
-1.8inch Color screen which displays photos and album art
    -Perfect Pocket size: 3.5 inches x 1.6 inchesx.27 inches
-Able to get the most of the battery - I had mine at 13.25 hours once.
-Sync your contacts and calendar with Outlook
-Workout friendly: Nike adapters to track running summary and cool armbands.
    -3 games to kill time
    -iTunes
-New screen lock to protect unauthorized use
-Huge accessory base, and has same connecting port at the bottom.
    -Comes in black and White
    -Apple product
    -Click Wheel design

    Nano’s Negatives:
-No video playback like similar flash players
    -No voice recording
-Face and metal scratch really easy. Highly recommend an iSkin or other protection.
-Sound Quality: iRiver and others have better presets and equalizers
-Can easily snap if sat on wrong
    -Non-replaceable battery
-iTunes (I know it is in both, but it has it pluses and negatives)
-The length of the battery life is said to be variable.
-iPod will come out with a new version in 1year (or so) of its release

I am an iPod fanboy. I love having accessories and being able to find the attachments that I need, and having a choice between the varieties, unlike other MP3 players. Until there is a so called “iPod Killer,” Apple and Mr. Jobs will have my money.
