| Sharper, smarter, and better, the Bluetooth-enabled 3rd Generation Apple iPad is nothing short of a technological breakthrough. The Retina display of The new iPad, with 2048-by-1536 resolution (that’s four times the number of pixels in iPad 2 and a million more than an 1080P HDTV) and 44 percent greater color saturation, yields amazingly detailed and sharp images. Featuring a 5 MP iSight camera with a backside illumination sensor, this Apple iPad will delight you with its exceptionally rich photos and the ability to take 1080p HD videos. The built-in Apple A5X chip with quad-core graphics powers the 3.1 million pixels contained in the 9.7-inch display and generates an unfaltering response for all sorts of operations on this Apple iPad. Your voice will be its command - the Dictation feature in the 3rd Generation Apple iPad types as you speak, be it e-mails or status updates on social networking sites. What’s more, the AirPlay feature in The new iPad lets you wirelessly stream your favorite stuff to your speakers or an HDTV. | |

A very good piece of kit with a brilliant display but it depends on what you want/need it for. It has a great number of features & many useful Apps, a good number of them free. It is very fast when using the internet or eBay etc but the eBay & iTunes screen displays, for instance, are not in my view presented at all as usefully or conveniently as they appear on a laptop computer. Surprisingly the iPad lacks some obvious features that Apple should most certainly have included. First, it can only print to a compatible Airprint printer so many people buying an iPad will also have to fork out for a compatible printer. It also lacks a USB port &, astonishingly no memory card slot(s) either. I have found nothing on or for the iPad that compares with the facilities Microsoft Word offers. I do a lot of photography & I see nothing on, or for, the iPad either that compares with the photographic handling programs I have on my laptop. If you do prepare a document on the iPad's built-in rather poor Notes App, with no Airprint printer, you will have to send your document to your laptop/desktop to print it. The same with photographs or anything else, like received attachments you want to print. A simple alternative is to photograph the iPad screen with a digital camera & then put the camera's memory card in your computer to print it! The iPad camera, even on the 3rd generation model, is not that brilliant & the movie facility is handy but similarly, is nothing to write home about. I'll stick to my Lumix digital camera for photos & HD quality video. If you want to explore all the iPad features you will have to download the user's manual & I found that takes a LOT of paper! I have to say that my wife absolutely loves her iPad but I am less enamoured with mine & I am sorry to have to report that I very much prefer my Compaq laptop for all-round convenient use & as a workstation. That said I will take it on foreign holidays for internet, Skype & some Apps use. It will be great for that. I won't use it as a reader as I already have a Kindle. You can buy a very convenient wifi keyboard that also serves as a protective case that covers the front but the result is a bit heavier than I expected. You can buy a device that you can plug in to use memory cards etc but you shouldn't have to do that. Also, if you sync your iPad to a keyboard you have to unsync it before you can sync it to anything else! One important tip, if you buy a 2nd hand one, ensure that all photos are deleted first because any photos downloaded onto an iPad (from a computer) can, very strangely, only be deleted via the original owner's computer! Whether that is true of documents I am not sure. All in all, I actually do like a lot about my iPad but as you will guess, I will certainly be keeping my laptop!
I have the I-pad2 and got the I-pad3 for my wife. She loves it and I can't get her off it whereas she was only on her notebook for short periods of time.
To be honest, I can't see any difference between my I-pad and hers. The screen is supposed to be better but you'll be hard pushed to tell the difference!
I believe there is an I-pad 4 out now and my advice is to go for that if you need what it offers or get a cheaper I-pad2.
Great for apps and the battery life is excellent.
I love the look, feel and function of this iPad. My first tablet, so I don't have any previous experience to compare with this one, but I loved it from the very first use, and have no complaints. I bought a Grade A refurbished one and was most alarmed when it wouldn't start up at all, completely dead one day, and had to use another computer to research the problem on Forums etc and learned about the 'soft restart' which is a common issue with ipads and iphones apparently, which I didn't realise, and it seems to have been a one-off. I am otherwise delighted with the ipad. It is a little slow to connect sometimes, but generally no other issues and I now use it instead of the laptop for everything except where a lot of typing is involved, for which a keboard is better for me as a trained typist.
You all know the good things of this tablet. So I will talk about the negative things. The battery life is the same with the iPad 2 but it takes 3 times more time to be fully charged. Also, I would expect a few more new features to a new gen of iPads. Anyway, my overall expirience is excellent!
The IPad 3 is great I have never stopped using it since it arrived. I use it for for everything from taking notes or checking the time. The apps you can get for this are fantastic I could go on for ages talking of this but the best thing is to experience it yourself, if you want a computer you can carry with you any where, a camera that takes fantastic photos, a note pad that can write the notes for you as you talk and many many more things this MUST be what you are looking for. Get yourself one and have great fun finding out. If you enjoy it halve as much as me you will love it. I have already recommended this to a friend and they think the same as me.
