I bought mine for the nostalgia, and the styling, more than for the actual performance. PowerPC processor-equipped computers have limitations (they can't play all video formats)...it's not lightning-in-a-bottle fast! I installed Lubuntu 12.04 (PPC version) for free, so I have an up-to-date OS (with updates), that runs pretty fast on this old computer.
Mine didn't have an Airport card, so i plugged in a Linux-compatilble USB dongle I bought on eBay. It didn't come with a keyboard, mouse, or power cord (as advertised), and I bought all these cheap on eBay. I use it as a retro-computing hobby machine, not for work or school, and I like it! Thanks to Linux, it will run for years to come!
Before you get one, be sure to do some research first... it is, after all, a 10 year old computer!
since i bough the computer i haven't had problems with this machine. i was kinda exited because in the description say it had the external network but i hasnt. i bough a network card for 30 dollars and works fine... and the other bad thing i was that in the description also said that i has the Mac OS 10.5 but that was wrong i had the 10.4.8.i have so missing apps like iPhoto,iMovie
and i have no idea if i can upgrade to Mac OS X Leopar
Such a great blast from the past. Old as this baby is, it still works. Not fast mind you, but effective. I love the way the screen moves up and down. such a cool design. Great for kid's dvds!
I GOT THE APPLE IMAC G4 SO I COULD LEARN HOW TO WORK A MAC. IVE ALWAY HAD A PC, PLUS I THINK THEY LOOK NEAT.
I love it, jonny Ive and steve jobs from apple did an amazing job designing this thing. a must have for any apple lover like myself.
