Strong single-core and multitasking performance for its price; upgraded graphics chip handles most Mac games with ease; SDXC card slot supports higher-capacity cards than older iMacs; best-looking all-in-one on the market.
No HDMI input; no Blu-ray; native quad-core CPUs better at multithreaded applications; small screen size for its price; runs hot.
Apple has elected to keep its iMac firmly grounded as a productivity device. You'll find few home entertainment conveniences in Apple's new iMac, and you can find larger screens in other all-in-ones for less. Few will offer performance like this iMac, though, and none looks as pretty, which makes it easy to recommend for general-purpose computing and for the design conscious.

This iMac was an upgrade from my 2006 model that only allowed for 3gb ram. I couldn't afford a brand new one, so I began looking on eBay. Finding this one was just like getting a brand new one. Wonderful speed and upgradable to 16 gb ram once I am ready. I have already upgraded the ram to 12 gb. Processor is wonderfully fast for most of my uses, I work with all kinds of graphics programs with no lag. It came with Lion os so I won't be able to utilize some of my favorite programs but it was a trade for the better.
I bought this iMac on behalf of my mom, because she needed a new computer and this one was offered at a great price. She and I both love the computer itself, but the keyboard and mouse are not up to par for what we expected from an Apple product. After only 2 days out of the box, the keyboard stopped working and the iMac would not recognize it. New battery, zapping the P-RAM, unplugging for 15 minutes and restarting the computer, turning the keyboard on and off did not help. It still does not recognize the keyboard. The mouse also does not work as it is supposed to, and my mom hates it so much that she has decided to buy a different keyboard and mouse for the new iMac. Her previous computer was the G3 iMac, which worked perfectly right out of the box, with no problems. We are sorely disappointed in the keyboard and mouse for this computer, and hope that Apple will offer a choice of keyboard and mouse or else get these peripherals working right. $1100 is too much money to spend for a computer that must not only have a USB modem bought for it (there is no phone modem included; this should have been mentioned in the product info and wasn't) but must also have a new keyboard and mouse bought within a week of first use. The casing of the iMac also becomes extremely hot after a few minutes of use, which is something Apple should see to, as well, in future models. All in all, it's a nice computer with crappy peripherals.
I wanted to buy an Apple so I could do without all the viruses found on PCs. I have heard they do not get viruses and for that I am very grateful. I love this computer system because: 1) it is easy to put two web sites side by side to work on them at the same time since the screen is wide. 2) the screen is very clear and sharp 3) it's easy to use, even though I had to transition from a PC -- it's pretty intuitive.
Some things I don't like about it are: 1) the keys on the remote keyboard have to be hit in a specific place to activate -- I found I would hit the space key more toward the edge and that didn't work. It's taken me weeks to get used to this. I did set the sensitivity to the highest setting so that wasn't the problem -- I even changed the keyboard. 2) the batteries on the remote mouse only lasted about a month. Replacing them with regular batteries can be expensive.
I would highly recommend this product.
Bought the iMac to build and develop mobile applications, so far I have had a wonderful experience using it. Great features and totally different that any computer I've used before. Easy to learn and fun doing. I would recommend this product to anyone!
It's an Apple! Works smoothly, user friendly, looks sleek, takes up minimal space. New mouse is slick. Only would have liked to have the 10-key on the keyboard to make numeric keying easier.
