A good, super-compact Mac that holds up well even after nearly a decade

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I bought this "Little Al" model PowerBook secondhand, for a trip down to the States so I could run conference presentations and stay in touch online. So far I'm very pleased -- I paid the equivalent of $150 US, though I probably could have found one for even less if I'd shopped around more (but getting it without delay was worth a few extra bucks). It's got a good rep on the Mac user websites. This is one of the smallest laptops that Apple's made (it's roughly the same surface area as a standard sheet of paper), but the keyboard and display are large enough to be easy to use. It's 2013 now so it could be as much as 9 years old, and with that in mind, I'm impressed by how well it's aged. It's running 10.5 which is a bit out of date, but it can still open all the applications I need. The processor is 1.33 GHz. I don't know if the 1.5 GHz model would be significantly faster, but this may be why it's a bit slow playing large (feature film length) files on QuickTime. It's just fine with audio though. I loaded a couple of dozen albums onto it and the sound quality is quite good.
The only other issue with the laptop's age is the battery ... it's starting to deteriorate. The original specs say it's supposed to hold a charge for 5 hours but I'm clocking about half that. Not a problem since I'll be near a power socket most of the time, and I may be able to find a replacement battery.
For a small, light portable that's still a Mac, that's a cheaper alternative to an iPad, and that won't break my heart if it's lost, stolen, or damaged ... it's great. I intend to keep this one until I run it into the ground. Sorry to sound so harsh, but Macs are working machines after all, and will go to their reward in Silicon Heaven. I'm sure that Steve Jobs would approve.
