This is my first day with my Macbook pr, and I'm in love. Not only is it beautiful, but it's functional beyond my wildest dreams! I went into the Apple store yesterday tentative. You see, I bought this computer for college in the fall, and I was scared that, should a problem arise with my computer while I was away from home, I would have a much harder time finding anyone who is familiar with Macs than with PCs. The geniuses at Apple put my mind at ease. The pro is SUCH a breath a fresh air after being a long time PC user. Barely 24 hours into my Mac ownership, and I already can't stand a PC. The Macbook Pro comes with so much already installed, unlike a PC. I already have iTunes, Time Machine, iMovie, iPhoto, iCal, i Chat, Safari, and so much more! No more 3 days of setting up my computer before I can really use it, like with a PC. The Mac is so sleek and smooth, and it was incredibly easy for me to carry around the halls of my high school all day today. The built in webcam and sleek CD drive are pluses as well. I will NEVER invest my hard-earned money into a PC and all its problems again. ALL HAIL APPLE!
I love this laptop....I was expecting the new 13 inch macbook pro when I bought this from the seller, as it was incorrectly listed. After receiving the product I promptly realized the error and began researching the differences. For a 2008 this computer is in wonderful shape...only a few minor scratches on the bottom surface. Anyway, after much review, I am certain that I did not need to spend double what I did for a backlit keyboard, firewire port, and sd card slot....also, the removable battery is a plus because I can now carry an extra on long trips to get 10 hours of life rather than the unchangeable 7 on the new macbook pro....merry christmas to me!
My first thought was it's simply beautiful.
Setting aside all the advantages a Mac has over any PC;
I love its light weight which is awesome if you're on the move and it's long lasting battery. It has a glossy, sharp and shiny display that looks really nice. It's definition is beautiful, great for photography. Downside on this is reflection can be a pain if you're on place with much light and it seems kind of small if I'm working with lots of music tracks or doing large designs. I'm working around this having a larger monitor at my desk.
It's processor is fast, the best I've had so far. It keeps the pace with me and it's not even the fastest model. I compared this model with the newer ones on the same line and to me it has just the right age vs. price range. Usually models drop their price as soon as a newer one comes out and that's when I buy. Also being a later generation rather than the first of a new line or design usually means more issues have been fixed.
I remember wifi signal used to be weak on previous Powerbooks, not the case here which is good.
Likes:
Compact size, display resolution, powerful fast processor, long lasting battery, looks, and most of all it's price.
Dislikes:
Sometimes reflection and depending on your personal use you might want to have a large external display at your desk.
This is the first Mac I've owned, and it by far outstrips any other computer I've used. The OS X operating system is not only beautiful, but it always 'just works', which is very important for me. It is also relatively compatible with various Linux/*nix applications I use regularly, so that's a bonus.
The system as a whole is quick, snappy, and responsive, and seems to be able to handle quite a number of opened applications at once. The slot-loading DVD burner drive is great, as is the battery meter on the side. The touchpad is roomy and just the right sensitivity for me. The backlit keyboard is excellent and looks stylish.
There are a few things that could be improved, though. There are only 2 USB ports, and they're close enough to each other that when a larger USB device is plugged in (such as a flash drive with a large body), the other USB port cannot be used. Another port on the opposite side of the laptop would be nice. Also, the lack of dedicated microphone/line-in and headphone ports is a letdown. I will probably end up buying a USB iMic for recording, but again, that will take up one of the only 2 USB ports.
Overall, though, it's a great system, a joy to use. I highly recommend it.
This Apple Macbook Pro is amazing right out of the box. The features are like no other laptop on the market. It is extremely lightweight and is very thin. The picture quality is sharp and bright. The controls of your viewing area are simple and easy to use. The trackpad is amazing to use. No buttons on the trackpad. It is all touch responsive. The keyboard lights up and you can control the brightness of the keys or shut it off. Did I mention the battery life? The battery life is a whopping 7 hours while most laptops boast a 3 hour battery life. It will run Windows applications if you need that. Oh yes, and it is fast. I am sure I am leaving out some details. Go buy one and see what I mean.
