Pros:
1. The MacBook Air is arguably the most beautiful computer design ever.
2. It's as light as a feather (well, almost)–half the weight of a MacBook Pro.
3. It's unbelievably thin (the whole computer is thinner than the LID on my old iBook!)
4. The 128GB SSD allows much faster boot up and application loading than a conventional HD does.
5. The backlit keyboard is ideal for low light operation.
6. The NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics chip gives fast graphics performance.
7. Built-in iSight camera, Airport Extreme and Bluetooth.
8. Supports an ext. monitor up to 30" Apple Cinema Display
9. It's just a delight to use.
Cons:
1. Limited to 2GB RAM
2. Only one USB port (but can accommodate Ethernet wired network with use of USB-Ethernet adapter).
3. 2.13GHz processor is slower than other Mac laptops, but the SSD makes it feel speedier.
4. The battery is not user replaceable.
5. It is relatively expensive (2.13GHz MacBook Air is the same price as the base 15" 2.4GHZ i5 4GB MacBook Pro).
I bought this rather than an iPad, because it is about as compact, yet it is a full computer, running a full slate of applications; because it has an iSight camera, and because it allows me to print. I am extremely happy with it, and would make the same choice again. However, I would not recommend it for heavy duty creative work (I have a PowerMac with 6GB RAM and two 24" Cinema displays for creative work).
I already have a big mac book pro so I found it hard (ok, not that hard) to justify getting the air, but I just travel too much to lug around that monster. I don't notice it any slower than the pro for what I do on it. Migration is awesome (from my desktop). A couple hours and everything is exactly the same. Not much space though - will need a portable drive. Fast on and off. Absolutely beautiful my nephew almost thinks I am cool now, and not more aching back.
The combination of an SSD drive and faster processor make the Air a great laptop, hyper-portable and oh so elegant!
I love my new macbook Air! If your searching the market for fast, compact, and portable look no further. The Macbook Air is an excellent machine and does exactly what it says. However, if you are looking to make this your primary work horse computer then its not for you. It is designed for everyday tasks not for video encoding, intense gaming, and other intense applications. Buy this computer but know its capabilities.
YES, I would recommend this to my Best Friend.
Well, what can I say about Apple that you don't know yet?! Excellent design, excellent filling. The notebook as it should be. Of course, the price is absolutely unreasonably high for a computer, but we buy it also as a bijoux, so we pay what we're ready to pay. No competing device I know of so far.
